Job Summary
Role Summary
The Assistant Manager Battery & HV Safety will oversee thermal runaway mitigation high-voltage clearances electromagnetic/electrical hazards and safety compliance across all battery assembly R&D labs flight test beds and hardware integration environments. This role ensures operational and functional safety across high-voltage energy storage systems aircraft power distribution and sensitive electronic units.
Qualifications & Skills
- Mandatory Qualifications: B.E./ in Electrical Electronics Energy or Safety Engineering.
- Mandatory Experience: Hands-on experience in high-voltage battery safety laboratory testing and electrical equipment safety within the EV eVTOL or aerospace sectors.
- Preferred Experience: Direct experience with NFPA 855 (Energy Storage Systems) UN 38.3 ARP4761 / DO-254 / DO-160 (Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures for Airborne Equipment) ISO 26262 or aerospace-grade lithium-ion cell testing.
- Primary Skills: Lithium-ion thermal runaway prevention High-Voltage (HV) isolation & Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) Electrical/electronics hazard assessment airborne electrical power distribution safety Avionic test rig safety protocol design and electrostatic discharge (ESD) / arc-flash risk mitigation.
- Secondary Skills: EHS Incident/Accident investigation Root cause analysis (RCA) emergency response planning for airborne chemical/electrical fires vendor audit for specialized PPE and grounding/bonding safety clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- System & Facility Safety: Establish and enforce strict safety standards across high-voltage testing environments battery assembly areas and charging infrastructure.
- Thermal & Fire Containment: Design and execute thermal runaway containment procedures fire suppression protocols and specialized emergency response plans for battery and electronics R&D labs.
- Equipment & PPE Management: Manage the selection procurement and maintenance of high-voltage PPE insulated tools ESD protective equipment and arc-flash protection gear.
- Incident Investigation: Lead incident investigations involving battery thermal events electrical anomalies or avionics hardware shorts developing robust root cause analyses (RCA) and preventative actions.
