Typical qualifications for an Analyst:

• Bachelors degree (expected to be earned in 2027 or earned in 2026followed by a second degree or fellowship or relevant experience or course work
• Excellent academic record
• Strong analytical abilities both quantitative and qualitative
• Ability to present information in an insightful and structured manner both written and oral
• Demonstrated ability to support teams to accomplish aspiring goals

Problem statement: A donor is considering investing INR 5 crore to improve access to government welfare benefits for low-income urban migrants in either your hometown or the city where your college is located (or nearest to). They have asked you to recommend an approach. While they would prefer a technology-led solution they are open to alternatives. Evidence on effective approaches is limited and they want measurable results within 24 months.

Guidance for what the slide should cover:

• Two most important barriers preventing low-income urban migrants from accessing government welfare benefits that you would address
• Two intervention options you would present (more than two will not be accepted)
• What additional information or evidence would help you determine which of the two interventions to recommend

Your assignment will be assessed on:

• Problem framing: Identifying and defining the core challenges based on evidence and nuance.
• Critical thinking: Applying structured reasoning sound judgement and thoughtful prioritization to develop a compelling response
• Written communication: Presenting ideas clearly concisely and logically
