AI Program Manager
Job Summary
AI Program Manager
About the role
Cabot Solutions is hiring an AI Program Manager on contract to work directly with one of our longstanding US clients — an established managed services provider putting AI to work inside its own service
delivery before selling it to anyone else.
AI capabilities at the client move through a defined ten-step lifecycle from approved need to operational
ownership and a Steering Committee decides what ships. This seat owns both halves: driving capabilities
through that lifecycle and running the governance cadence that decides them. It is a delivery role with
real accountability not a reporting role.
You will be employed on contract by Cabot Solutions and embedded with the client's AI program team
reporting into their AI program lead.
What you'll do
• Drive each AI capability through all ten lifecycle steps — need owners pilot documentation
training comms go/no-go rollout hypercare operational ownership.
• Assemble and defend the go/no-go packet at each gate review: pilot evidence measured results
against promotion thresholds risks and the ownership handoff plan.
• Run the Steering Committee and Execution Council cadence — agenda quorum carryover
scorecard and a decisions log with a named owner and a date on every decision.
• Chase actions to closure between sessions surface slippage early with the specific blocker named
and escalate to the chair rather than let an action age quietly.
• Own the hypercare-to-ownership handoff. A capability is done when a named operational owner
has accepted it with documentation and a support path — not when it ships.
• Maintain the capability portfolio view and the risk assumption issue and dependency log across
capabilities.
• Coordinate with workstream owners on dependencies — instrumentation guardrails and safety
review enablement and training readiness legal clearance — and treat any of those being
incomplete as a gate blocker.
• Hold the line when the evidence does not support a promotion the room wants to make.
What you bring
Must have
• 5 years of project or program management delivering software or technology capabilities into
production — not construction not marketing not generic operations.
• PMP and Certified ScrumMaster PSM I or equivalent Agile credential. Both not either.
• Proven delivery for US or Canadian clients or employers including running live meetings with senior
stakeholders in English.
• Experience running a governance or gate-review process where a go/no-go decision depended on
evidence you personally assembled — including holding a date or a standard against a senior
stakeholder who wanted it waived.
• A track record of chasing people who do not report to you and getting dates. This is the load-bearing
skill in this role.
• Working fluency with AI machine learning or automation delivery: you understand what a pilot
shadow mode and a promotion threshold are and why "it worked in the demo" is not evidence.
• Written English strong enough to author an executive-facing decision log and a gate packet unaided.
• Comfort in Microsoft 365 and Teams and in a work-tracking tool such as Jira Azure DevOps or Asana.
• Availability during US Eastern business hours 8:00 am to 5:00 pm ET.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Nice to have
• ITIL v4 Foundation PMI-ACP Microsoft AZ-900 or AI-900.
• A change-management credential such as Prosci.
• Managed services or PSA tooling exposure (ConnectWise Autotask or similar).
• Hands-on familiarity with generative AI delivery — model and API integration evaluation and
guardrails cost and token management.
What we're looking for in plain terms
The strongest candidates for this seat are technical program managers who have owned outcomes
rather than plans. If your experience is maintaining schedules and publishing status this is not the role.
If you have stood in front of a senior stakeholder and said "the pilot data does not support promoting
this and here is what we need before it will" — we would like to talk.
Engagement details
• Contract engagement with Cabot Solutions staffed to a US-based client.
• Start date: approximately 2–4 weeks from offer.
