We are looking for a Senior Manager/Director Software Engineering to lead and evolve a software engineering team working on the ViewPoint a key clinical reporting product within GE HealthCare.This role combines technical leadership and people management with a strong focus on new software technologies and leveraging them in our software products driving engineering excellence in a global environment
The successful candidate will help shape the future of the ViewPoint product line by strengthening its capabilities with the main emphasize on its Backend development improving collaboration across global teams and driving adoption of modern technologies including cloud and AI-oriented approaches.
This is a highly impactful role responsible not only for delivery but also enabling long-term scalability.
This role is designed for a highly experienced engineering leader and we are also open to candidates currently operating at Director or equivalent level in high-growth or startup environments.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Delivery
Lead a team of software engineers focused onbackenddevelopment
Oversee thefull software development lifecycle: requirements analysis design development testing and deployment
Ensure high-quality secure and maintainable software delivery aligned with business goals
Drive improvements inengineering practices quality and delivery efficiency
Architecture & Modernization
Support the adoption ofmodern backend technologies APIs and scalable system design
Champion initiatives related tocloud transformation and AI-driven capabilities
Participate in and challenge architectural decisions ensuring long-term scalability
Team Leadership & Growth
Lead mentor and develop a team of engineers (including both direct reports and distributed stakeholders)
Builda strongteamownership mindset
Foster a culture ofcollaboration accountability and continuous improvement
Drive hiring and team expansion as needed
Cross-functional & Global Collaboration
Work closely withglobal teamsacross multiple locations
Partner with product engineering and other stakeholders to align priorities and execution
Required Qualifications
Masters degreein Computer Science Engineering or arelatedfield
Hands-on software engineering experience
Provenleadership or people management experience
Strong understanding ofsoftware architecture backend systems and distributed systems
Exposure tocloud technologies and/or container-based environments
Interest or experience inAI/ML-driven development or data-intensive systems
Experience inmedical device
Ability to work in afast-evolving ambiguous environment and drive transformation
Preferred Qualifications
Experience withbackend technologies
Familiarity withlegacy system modernizationand modular/service-based architectures
Experience working inlarge global matrix organizations
Strong communicationand influencing skills with the ability tochallenge and align stakeholders
Proven ability to build and scale engineering teams
