Context:
You will join the Trading Surveillance team within S&EM Risk Control Transversal Risk.
This team is composed of 9 analysts in charge of preventing detecting and escalating risky or suspicious trading practices on external trading platforms under S&EM market conduct and algo trading policies. This is an operational team working in collaboration with other functions (mainly Legal Compliance Front-Office) to comply with market abuse regulations (REMITMAR...) algo trading regulations (MIDIF2 REMIT2) and internal rules covering all S&EM trading entities and products worldwide.
Role:
- Develop and maintain a surveillance system that allows to integrate trading activity data and recognize prevent or report cases of market manipulation and risky trading behaviours.
- Create prototype alerts then industrialize them in the core big data surveillance tool with the support of a dedicated IS team.
- Perform daily controls and ad-hoc spot checks on S&EM trading activity challenge Front Officers on their trading practices (Internal Requests For Information or internal investigations)
- Escalate alerts internally to Market conduct governance and/or externally through STORs (Suspicious Trade and
- Order Report)
- Contribute to the awareness and guidelines on best practices considering regulatory developments and business changes in close collaboration with Front-Officers Legal and Compliance
- Analyze and validate algorithmic trading tools and strategies and elaborate pre-trade securities in relation with IS and business teams.
- Monitor algo trading activities in real-time (trading activity parameter and code change) and react in case of unexpected trading activity notably in case a kill-switch activation is needed
- Support Legal/Compliance teams with data and analysis in case of external inquiries.
Hard skills:
- Must have: Excellent practical ability to analyze/process multiple data and information sources design models understand markets products and trading strategies acquired through a first professional experience. Practice of office tools and management of databases (SQL AWS Azure DataIku APIs...). Excellent Python coding skills.
- Good to have: first experience linked to Energy markets or Market Conduct regulations or Trading Surveillance activities.
Soft skills:
- Must have: Analytical and assertive mindset combined with a hands-on approach. Well organized and pro-active tenacious and stress resistant. Curious eager to learn and develop skills. Working on a collaborative mode. Able to communicate pedagogically around complex topics.
- Good to have: Strong interest for the energy markets (fundamentals design regulations trading).
Education and professional background:
- Masters degree in energy engineering economics risk management finance or a related field.
- Up to 3 years of experience in an analytical role in a Banking Utilities or Trading environment.
Languages:
- Fluent in English.
- Fluent French appreciated.
Travels:
This is a European-based position in one of our offices in Paris or Brussels with some punctual travels to other S&EM offices.
