Job Summary

Main Responsibilities

  • Support analysis and drafting on topics related to electricity markets either for publication or for briefing senior officials/management.
  • Process data sets for identifying trends and developments across international electricity markets.
  • Present data in figures that can be used to demonstrate key trends and insights across electricity markets.
  • Monitor and analyse international developments in electricity market reform.
  • Collaborate with other divisions within the IEA and external organisations to optimise the performance of EMS/ESM as well as other parts of the IEA.
  • Assist in the preparation of material needed to support broader IEA work including supporting material for workshops briefings presentations and related outputs.

Qualifications :

Ideal Candidate Profile

Academic Background

  • Achieved or close to achieving a university degree in a related field such as economics engineering or policy.

Professional Background

  • Exposure to analysing electricity markets preferably across more than one country.
  • Knowledge of electricity systems and the technical economic and regulatory factors that shape electricity system outcomes.
  • Knowledge of economic principles used in electricity market design including an understanding of electricity market reform.  
  • Ability to process large data sets including data processing and analysis using Excel. Additional benefit is for the candidate to be capable of using a programming language such as Python.
  • Ability to synthesise complex results and present them to a non-specialist audience.

Languages

  • A good level of oral and written communication skills and excellent drafting ability in English; working knowledge of other languages would be an advantage.

Additional Information :

Contract Duration 

  • 5-month fixed-term appointment (until 31 December 2026) with the possibility of renewal.

Salary Information  

  • For temporary staff salary starts at 3240 EUR.
