Harness Design Engineer
Job Summary
Loft Orbital is redefining how satellites are built and deployed. We provide a fast simple and reliable path to orbit by combining standardized space vehicles mission-specific payload integration and end-to-end mission execution.
As a Harness Design Engineer youll help design the electrical harnesses that connect spacecraft systems avionics payloads and test equipment. Youll work across electrical systems mechanical engineering manufacturing and integration & test to turn electrical interfaces into reliable production-ready hardware.
This is a great opportunity for an earlier career candidate with a strong electrical engineering foundation and an interest in developing expertise in spacecraft harness design.
- Design electrical harnesses for spacecraft payloads and test systems.
- Translate schematics ICDs pinouts and electrical interfaces into harness designs.
- Create harness schematics and 3D harness assemblies using Creo.
- Develop manufacturing drawings bills of material and harness documentation.
- Support harness fabrication inspection integration testing and troubleshooting.
- Contribute to harness libraries design standards and continuous improvement.
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering aerospace engineering or a related field
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering circuits electronics and electrical interfaces.
- Ability to read electrical schematics wiring diagrams pinouts and interface documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and interest in precise hands-on engineering work.
- Ability to learn new engineering tools and collaborate across electrical mechanical manufacturing and test teams.
- Strong problem-solving communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with Creo SolidWorks CATIA or another 3D CAD system.
- Experience with electrical schematics wiring diagrams block diagrams or connectivity data.
- Familiarity with connectors wires cables shielding grounding strain relief or EMI/EMC.
- Hands-on experience with electronics PCBs soldering crimping electrical test equipment or hardware integration.
- Coursework or project experience in embedded systems RF signal integrity power electronics or high-speed digital design.
