Biomethane and bioCO2 lead (FH)
Job Summary
Take the lead in structuring negotiating and managing the contracts of biomethane sale and its associated attributes (PoS GO CPB etc.) in France. Be the centre of expertise on these subjects at European level for Renewable gases.
Lead the development of biogenic CO₂ valorisation projects on existing and future biomethane units in ENGIEs portfolio. Coordinate international teams in development procurement execution operation and support function to ensure the delivery of CO2 projects and optimize value creation for ENGIE.
The position is both strategic and operational aiming to create commercial value while ensuring robust long-term frameworks for biomethane sales and bioCO2 valorisation.
The main activities of theHead of Biomethane and BioCO2 Valorisation are as follows:
Management of biomethane sales contracts and service agreements :
- For France :
- Manage regulated contracts and the service contracts.
- Negotiate contract modifications with our clients (SAVE S&EM TotalEnergies) to support changes to our assets (e.g. : Change of Cmax for feed-in tariffs). Such modifications will be built with both operations and legal teams.
- For Europe (including France):
- Work with asset managers and operations teams to identify levers to optimize existing contracts
- Build an European community around off-take of biomethane to share REX
- Participate in internal RED steering committees and exchanges with SEM and RAPA.
- Prepare long-term framework agreements with SEM to facilitate the signing of Biomethane Purchase Agreements (BPA) through CPB scheme for France and other national schemes for biomethane valorisation. Assist international teams in concluding and maintaining BPA contracts.
- Knowledge of biomethane markets :
- Maintain detailed knowledge of regulatory issues impacting producers and suppliers.
- Identify and monitor emerging topics related to biomethane valorisation : IRICC new biomethane valorisation pathways.
- Knowledge of market players and avenues for diversifying off-takers.
Design the roadmap and processes for BioCO2 valorisation :
- Define and adapt business models and pricing strategies for BioCO₂ valorisation.
- Elaborate and refine BioCO₂ valorisation roadmap based on existing project pipe ambition and capabilities. Align CO2 projects with corporate decarbonization and profitability objectives.
- Contribute to the adaptation of existing processes to ensure successful and safe delivery of BioCO₂ projects in development construction and operation.
- Develop new tools to facilitate and accelerate BioCO₂ development : Contracts references Investment Notes templates BioCO₂ Offers Pricing tool interfaces with CRM and Procore.
- Conduct and participate in CO₂ market studies : Value chain players CO₂ Quality Economics (CAPEX/OPEX/Risks) ENGIEs positioning vs competitive landscape Priority geographies and sub-markets Country policies and regulations.
- Identify new business opportunities linked to monitored market trends emerging technologies (E-fuels BECCS Sustainable Chemistry etc.) and Innovative business models (Networks Hubs CO₂ as a service etc.).
BioCO2 Project Development :
- Engage with local and global players of the CO₂ market to enable profitable and secure BioCO₂ projects. Analyse needs positions and strategic interest for collaboration.
- Collaborate with local development procurement and execution teams to help them develop strong and sustainable relationships with clients equipment and logistics suppliers global mid-streamers quality control and auditors.
- Pilot the negotiation and internal review of BioCO₂ sales agreements and partnership contracts.
- Prepare business cases and investment notes for investment committees.
Cross-functional Collaboration and Representation :
- Explain and simplify biomethane and BioCO₂ sales with internal teams. Train commercial teams to generate new opportunities and facilitate sharing of best practices.
- Participate to internal ENGIE communities working on renewable gases. Represent ENGIE and its Renewable Gases entity in external forums and working groups on biomethane and BioCO₂ valorisation.
- As part of the BD support team contribute when needed to the other activities of the BD support team and local development.
