Senior Accountant (NPO)
Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting transactions general ledger payables receivables and month-end closing.
- Record and reconcile cash and in-kind donations and maintain proper supporting documentation.
- Monitor charitable assistance payments and ensure complete documentation and approvals.
- Perform bank and cash reconciliations and monitor cash movements.
- Prepare budgets cash-flow information and Budget vs. Actual analysis.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and management schedules.
- Maintain accurate organized and audit-ready financial records.
- Support external audits and respond to financial information requests.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls accounting policies and applicable requirements.
- Identify discrepancies or financial risks and escalate significant issues to management.
- Bachelors Degree in Commerce Accounting or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience with mandatory hands-on experience in an NGO NPO charity or foundation.
- Practical experience in donation/fund accounting financial assistance reconciliations budgeting and reporting.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the finance function.
- High level of accuracy integrity confidentiality and attention to detail.
Required Skills:
