Job Summary

MEP Drafter/Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled MEP Drafter/Engineer with at least 5 years of experience in NYC MEP drafting and engineering. The role requires strong knowledge of NEC and NYC Electrical Codes equipment clearances and coordination across multiple trades. The candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed shop drawings reviewing electrical equipment submittals and ensuring accuracy in underground sleeve and conduit coordination. This position involves close collaboration with shop drawing managers site managers and other MEP drafters to deliver precise and compliant documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and coordinate MEP drawings in compliance with NEC and NYC Electrical Codes.
  • Review electrical equipment submittals and identify discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper coordination between drawings and MEP trades for underground sleeves and concrete-embedded conduits/devices.
  • Communicate effectively with in-office shop drawing managers FQE site managers and fellow MEP drafters.
  • Assist in service and distribution takeoffs.
  • Maintain accuracy and detail in all drafting work.
  • Utilize 2D/3D CAD and Revit for drafting and modeling.
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in NYC MEP drafting and engineering.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of NEC and NYC Electrical Codes.
  • Familiarity with standard electrical equipment and clearances.
  • Proficiency in reviewing electrical equipment submittals.
  • Expertise in 2D/3D CAD and Revit drafting software.
  • Ability to perform service and distribution takeoffs.
