Senior Engineer Fire Engineering (Data Centers)
Job Summary
AECOM is seeking an experienced Fire Protection Systems Design Engineer to join our Enterprise Capabilities Design Center in Bogotá D.C. The selected candidate will support designing and implementing fire protection systems for diverse and complex projects. These projects include railways airports large surface buildings data centers and industrial estates. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in fire protection systems design compliance with international codes and collaboration in multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Engineering: Develop fire protection systems designs including sprinkler systems fire alarm systems smoke control systems and other fire safety measures ensuring compliance with international standards and local regulations.
- Project Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including architects structural engineers and mechanical engineers to integrate fire protection systems seamlessly into project designs.
- Code Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to NFPA standards local building codes and other relevant fire safety regulations.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering drawings specifications and reports for fire protection systems.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct reviews and audits of fire protection system designs to ensure accuracy functionality and compliance.
- Innovation: Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in fire protection systems to enhance design capabilities and project outcomes.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Hydraulic Engineering Mechanical Engineering Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 4 years of experience in fire active protection systems design.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Revit and hydraulic calculation tools ( FireCAD HASS).
- Experience in the design of fire protection systems for infrastructure projects including dry pipe networks automatic sprinkler systems hose systems private fire protection water networks and fire pump systems.
- In-depth knowledge of NFPA standards local building codes and fire safety regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Conversational English level B2
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Hydraulic Engineering Mechanical Engineering Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in fire active protection systems design.
- Masters degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as PE (Professional Engineer) or CFPS (Certified Fire Protection Specialist).
- Experience in the design of fire protection systems for data centers
- Familiarity with sustainable design practices and green building certifications (e.g. LEED).
- Advanced proficiency in BIM tools and methodologies.
- Knowledge of emerging fire protection technologies.
