DURATION: 6-8 months with possibility of extension
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The purpose of this assignment is to provide comprehensive support to the Capacity & Knowledge Unit in developing and editing the various knowledge products at the WFP South-South Knowledge Sharing Platform and Cloud School (WFP China COE South-South Cooperation Knowledge Sharing Platform).
DUTY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Communications Volunteer under the guidance and supervision of Head of Capacity & Knowledge Unit of WFP China will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:
Edit and produce high-quality multimedia content including text video and image for the WFP South-South Knowledge Sharing Platform and Cloud School.
Translate a wide range of knowledge products into English in a timely and professional manner.
Contribute to the re-structuring and enhancement of the WFP South-South Knowledge Sharing Platform and Cloud School.
Support the planning and delivery of online and offline events and campaigns of the Unit by developing visibility materials assisting with the design and execution of the events and campaigns and providing other online and onsite support.
Perform additional duties as required
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
Deliver high-quality and engaging multimedia content (text video image) that strengthens the visibility usability and impact of the WFP South-South Knowledge Sharing Platform and Cloud School.
Provide timely accurate English translations of knowledge products ensuring clarity consistency and accessibility for global audiences.
Contribute to the restructuring and enhancement of the Knowledge Sharing Platform and Cloud School resulting in improved content organization navigation and user experience.
Support the planning and execution of online and offline events and campaigns by producing visibility materials contributing to campaign design and ensuring smooth online and onsite implementation.
Carry out additional tasks as needed with professionalism and flexibility contributing to efficient team operations and responsive delivery of Unit priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education: Majors in Communication Journalism Media Studies Translation International Relations Education Technology or another relevant field.
Experience:
Candidates with experience working in other UN agencies are preferred.
Proven experience in multimedia content creation and editing including text video and image production for digital platforms;
Demonstrated experience in English translation or bilingual communication;
Experience in supporting website or platform management such as content structuring user experience improvements or CMS operations.
Knowledge & Skills:
Proficiency at Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) required for work;
Strong ability to use the latest photo and video editing software and AI tools.
Strong commitment and dedication to UN/WFPs mission;
Willingness to listen and learn;
Demonstrate respect and professionalism at workplace;
Ability to work in multi-cultural environment;
Ability to meet deadlines and maintain food communication with colleagues;
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the organisation and the team.
Languages: Excellent written and spoken English is required (level C).
