About the new role

The Lifecycle Solutions and Innovation (LSI) team is responsible for developing and deploying state-of-the-art HVAC system controls and building level lifecycle solutions digital-enabled services with data analytics fault detection and diagnostics healthy building solutions integrated energy management system and breakthrough technologies that are used by Carrier HVAC Refrigeration and Energy system solution development teams and service team for Carriers intelligent climate and energy system innovation operation and maintenance. Advanced Control team is a sub-engineering group within LSI team.

As the Staff Engineer for Advanced Control team you will lead the Advanced Control related projects with scope based on the business needs to define the technology roadmap of Advanced Control team with the focus on AI-based system control to enable the accelerated growth in system solution sales different vertical markets and the service modernization business to develop differentiated system control solutions for climate and energy systems to explore frontier generative AI technologies in control optimization solutions.

  • Advanced control solution expert of SRDC Lifecycle Solutions and Innovation sub-engineering team in Shanghai with the responsibilities stated below. He / She will develop and execute technology roadmaps in collaboration with other Carrier engineering teams globally.

  • Project leader for related Lifecycle Solutions and Innovation projects at SRDC to ensure that they are completed on schedule within budget with high quality and executed to both internal and external customers specifications and requirements.

  • Senior technical leader for advanced control solutions building & HVAC/R system design supervisory control data analytics MBD providing technical guidance and oversight of engineers working on the related projects.

  • Proficiency in project execution with appropriate processes including PDP QRB TRL ASG processes et al.

  • Exploration of frontier technologies in control optimization applications.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Staff Engineer she or he will be responsible for:

  • Provide technical guidance to related Advanced control team programs including but not limited to technical approach architecture definition and development project management technical guidance to young engineer and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Prioritizes coordinates and facilitates all pilot project activities to ensure that all projects are completed on schedule within budget and are executed to customers satisfaction.

  • Establish standard work for system control solutions which include specifications technical manuals system selling tools white papers training materials etc.

  • Maintains constant communication with other Carrier engineering manufacturing and quality team members as well as frequent communication with commercial team customers and upper management.

  • Facilitates weekly engineering team meetings and ensure timely updates to internal project management system as well as communicate project status updates to global leaders.

  • Support all QRB/TRL review meetings to ensure proper company-wide attendance adherence to company tooling standards documentation control and coordination of follow-up activities.

  • Exploration of frontier technologies in control optimization applications.

  • Actively participate with marketing and distribution teams in new program development and cost estimating activities to help secure new business.

  • Exploration of frontier technologies in control optimization applications.

  • Support all corporate strategic initiatives including the development of new technologies strategies business plans etc.

Requirements

People who are interested in advanced control for climate and energy system lifecycle solution development and frontier technology exploration with ability agile and aspiration communicative responsible and analytical mindset you are welcome to apply this position.

As a minimum must have:

  • MS or Ph.D. in Controls Automation Mechatronics HVAC/R or Mechanical Engineering or a related field required
  • 8 years of control development experience with a focus on system supervisory control model-based system control system modelling AI-based control technologies
  • 3 years of experience in a project leadership or management role within a related solution development team
  • Strong leadership skills and an entrepreneurial attitude towards innovation
  • Expertise in model-based control design control algorithm development and control system architecture design
  • Expertise in HVAC system diagnostics and HVAC products controls experience
  • Proficiency in controller development software (like C/C/Matlab/Simulink/Python) real time operating system and communication protocols
  • Proficiency of applications with generative AI technologies
  • Experiences in Agile development methodologies will be a significant advantage
  • Be familiar with working principles of HVAC/R and energy system
  • Expertise in coaching and developing junior engineers
  • Proficiency in technical writing presentation project management and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Excellent English skills on both written and speaking
