Senior Usability Engineer
Job Summary
- Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research on the workflow of ultrasound doctors in hospitals from exam requests patient preparation equipment operation to report generation. Identify pain points and opportunities for improving the user experience of digital ultrasound products.
- Participate in the interaction design and feature updates of ultrasound AI products (such as AI-assisted diagnosis and image analysis) ensuring that the products match doctors habits and clinical needs.
- Build a usability testing system using methods like user interviews prototype testing and on-site observation to verify design solutions and improve key user experience metrics (e.g. efficiency error rate user satisfaction).
- Work closely with R&D teams acoustic engineers and medical experts to translate clinical needs into product requirements. Deliver usability design guidelines and test reports to support medical certification (e.g. IEC 62366).
Qualifications / Requirements
- Education & Experience: Masters degree or higher in Biomedical Engineering Clinical Medicine Human-Computer Interaction Computer Science or related fields. At least 5 years of experience in usability design for medical digital products with hands-on experience in ultrasound-related products.
- Professional Skills:
- Familiar with ultrasound department workflows (e.g. pre-exam preparation device operation and report interpretation for abdominal gynecological and cardiovascular ultrasounds).
- Capable of independently designing interaction prototypes for ultrasound devices or AI products with proficiency in tools such as Figma and Axure.
- Understanding of AI product design principles (e.g. visualization of algorithm results human-machine collaboration workflows). Experience with ultrasound AI-assisted diagnosis is preferred.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Strong cross-functional communication skills to clearly convey clinical needs and design solutions to technical teams.
- Ability to work with medical experts and acoustic engineers to validate requirements and design solutions.
- Industry Knowledge:
- Familiarity with medical device usability engineering standards (e.g. IEC 62366).
- Understanding of user research methodologies and the ability to drive product improvements through clinical simulations and doctor feedback.
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in product design at ultrasound equipment manufacturers or medical AI companies.
- Understanding of ultrasound image features and clinical diagnostic logic with the ability to support clinical translation of AI algorithm requirements.
- Experience in writing usability test reports and knowledge of medical device registration processes.
