Job Description
Responsibilities and Job Functions
- Proactively identify engage with and evaluate external opportunities aligned with Gileads R&D strategies
- Work directly with colleagues and Gileads Competitive Intelligence group to understand therapeutic area landscapes inflection points of key clinical stage programs and define competitive landscapes for targets/programs of interest
- Present new opportunity summaries and recommendations to therapeutic area leadership at regular triage meetings.
- Oversee and guide cross-functional scientific diligence teams with Gilead Corporate Development colleague to evaluate selected opportunities and summarize overall assessments and recommendations.
- Work in partnership with Corporate Development colleagues and cross-functional diligence teams to prepare and present opportunity proposals to Senior Leadership approval
- Be a highly collaborative and inclusive team member of the Corporate Development organization
- The position also offers the opportunity to learn the financial business and contractual aspects of partnering and acquisitions based on applicants career aspirations
Reporting Structure
- Reports directly to the Executive Director Corporate Development in Shanghai who reports to the VP of Corporate Development leading the Search and Evaluation Group.
Required Background
- Bachelors Degree with 14 yrs. relevant experience Masters Degree with 12 yrs. relevant experience or PhD/PharmD/DVM/MD or similar life sciences education with 10 yrs. relevant experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. Will consider candidates with scientific experience with a desire to learn corporate development.
- Scientific expertise in Inflammation Immunology or Oncology is required
- Previous experience in a Search and Evaluation role is preferred
- Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced organization.
- An extensive understanding of drug development processes
- Ability to do independent literature research and utilize public/private databases to evaluate opportunities including mechanism preclinical supporting studies defining activity and safety in models clinical efficacy and safety data sets
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong commitment to work collaboratively and cross-functionally in a fast-paced organization.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills with ability to concisely and objectively present complex scientific information
