Role Overview
The Special Process Quality Engineer is responsible for
- quality management compliance assurance and continuous improvementacross special processes to ensure consistent product conformity and audit readiness.
- partner with Manufacturing Engineering NPI and Suppliers by establishing robust process controls strengthening governance and driving disciplined execution on the shop floor.
- lead internal special process auditsand coordinate/supportexternal audits(including customer and third-party audits) ensuring effective preparation professional on-site engagement timely corrective action execution and verification of closure.
- proactively identify process risks and gaps driveroot cause analysis and CAPA and prevent recurrence through sustainable improvements.
- create standardize and optimize special processinspection methods workmanship/quality standards and related work instructions.
- define and improvecalibration/verification methodsfor special process and inspection equipment to ensure measurement integrity traceability and consistent results supporting Safety Quality Delivery and Cost objectives.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has proven execution capability in special process quality and can collaborate effectively across functions including Manufacturing Engineering NPI Suppliers and Inspection.
- Demonstrates high ownership and integrity in compliance and audit readiness with the ability to translate requirements into practical controls standards and shop-floor-ready guidance.
- Skilled at using data and quality tools to driveroot cause analysis corrective and preventive actions and continuous improvement and can coach teams to ensure consistent implementation and sustained results.
- Able to develop and optimize inspection methods standards and work instructions for special processes.
- Able to establish and improve calibration and verification approaches for special process and inspection equipment to ensure traceability and repeatability.
- Has basic drawing reading capability to interpret key characteristics technical requirements and inspection points.
- Complies with company rules policies and procedures (including legal and compliance quality production EHS HR administration and lean/operational requirements).
- Completes other tasks assigned by the foreman or supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or above in an engineering-related discipline (Mechanical Materials Industrial Engineering Quality Engineering or related).
- 3 years of experience in manufacturing quality or special process quality.
- Experience leading special process internal audits and supporting special process external audits including audit planning execution NCR management corrective action validation and closure.
- Ability to drive quality planning process compliance assessments risk control and continuous improvement for special processes.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills; able to drive cross-functional CAPA to closure on time.
- Proficient in office software with good English speaking and writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep experience in one or more special processes (e.g. heat treatment welding coating surface enhancement) including understanding of critical parameters and failure modes.
- Familiarity with NADCAP or customer special process audit requirements.
- Proficient in PFMEA Control Plan and MSA plus basic statistical analysis.
- Hands-on experience with 8D 5-Why or similar structured problem-solving approaches.
- Experience with supplier audits supplier corrective action coaching and supplier special process compliance management.
- Strong work ethic good communication skills initiative professionalism and teamwork mindset.
