IT Desktop Support Intern

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented IT Desktop Support Intern to join our on-site IT support team at Lear Corporations Shanghai headquarters. As an intern you will work closely with our desktop support engineers and gain hands-on experience in a real enterprise IT environment.
Your primary responsibility will be operating system deployment and device imaging supporting the team in preparing end-user devices for daily operations and new employee onboarding. This is an excellent opportunity for students or fresh graduates who are passionate about IT infrastructure and looking to kick-start their career in IT support.
Key Responsibilities
1. OS Deployment & Device Imaging (Primary Responsibility)
- Perform Windows OS installation and reimaging on laptops and desktops using deployment tools (e.g. MDT SCCM or USB-based imaging)
- Execute post-installation configuration including driver installation Windows updates and basic system settings
- Conduct pre-deployment quality checks to ensure devices are functioning properly before handover
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation/staging area for device preparation
2. Device Setup & Configuration
- Assist in installing and configuring standard enterprise software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office 365 VPN client antivirus)
- Support domain joining and basic Active Directory account binding
- Label and register newly configured devices into the IT asset management system
3. IT Asset Management Support
- Assist with device inventory tracking - logging devices in and out of the asset register
- Help maintain accurate records of device serial numbers configurations and assigned users
- Support physical stock checks and equipment organization in the IT storage room
4. New Employee Onboarding Support
- Assist in preparing IT equipment packages for new hires
- Support the delivery and basic setup of devices at user desks
- Help verify that new employees can successfully log in and access required systems
5. General IT Support Assistance
- Provide basic L1 troubleshooting support under the guidance of senior engineers
- Assist with ticket logging and status updates in the ITSM system
- Help update knowledge base (KB) articles related to OS deployment procedures
Requirements
Education
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university program in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field
- Associate degree (大专) or above
Technical Skills
- Basic understanding of Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11)
- Familiarity with PC/laptop hardware components (RAM SSD motherboard etc.)
- Basic knowledge of BIOS/UEFI settings is a plus
- Exposure to OS installation (even in a personal or lab environment) is preferred
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office 365 applications
Language Skills
- Able to read and understand basic English technical documentation and system interfaces
- Basic English communication skills for simple IT-related interactions
Soft Skills
- Hands-on and detail-oriented - comfortable with repetitive hardware tasks
- Eager to learn and willing to follow established procedures and guidelines
- Responsible and reliable - able to handle IT equipment with care
