Corporate Actions Equity Senior Associate
Job Summary
MSCI Equity Indexes aremaintainedwith theobjectiveof reflecting the evolution of the underlying equity markets ona timelybasis.
The Corporate Events Teamis responsible for daily maintenance of indexbyreflectingimpact ofongoing corporateeventslikeM&As spin-offs bankruptcies reorganizations and other corporate actions (e.g. stock splits rights offerings dividends etc.)following theprinciples of replicability consistency continuity and minimizing turnover.
Depending on the nature of the corporateactionthere may be changes in index memberships weights sizestyleand industry classifications.
The teamis responsible fortimelyidentificationreviewandassessing the replication considerationsof corporate action related changesin client portfoliosin order tofacilitateappropriate maintenanceof the Equity Indexes.
The role is expected toleverageapprovedArtificial Intelligence(AI)tools toenhance analytical depth improve operational efficiency support documentation perform quality checks andidentifyanomalies or risks in corporate action processing. The incumbent will exercise sound professional judgment adhere to MSCIs governance and risk standards and contribute to the responsible and effective adoption of AI across Corporate Events workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Team management -The successful candidate will be a member of the team based in Shanghai and should be able tomanage teamsin Mumbai and Shanghai who are responsible for accurate implementation of corporate events for APAC region in MSCI Indexes following the principles of replicability consistency continuity and minimizing turnover.
- Client Servicing-
- Collaborating globallyfor deliveringexpediteandhigh-qualityresponses to asset managers/traders some instances(if needed)have communicationover the phonein order tomanage clientslong termrelationship.Utilize AI-assisted research and drafting tools to improve response accuracy and turnaround time while ensuringappropriate humanreview.
- Review and approve client announcements detailing upcoming changes in the MSCI Indexessupported by AI-based validation and consistency checks.
- TrainingclientsonMSCI methodologiescorporate actiontreatment products etc.
- Methodology and Process ownership -
- Act as acore member of a global decision committee to approve complex and/or large corporate actions implementation and methodological changes in keeping relevance to the security markets and clientsneed.
- Implementing enhancements to the MSCI Corporate Events Methodologyprocessesand applications.
- Drive continuous improvement byidentifyingopportunities to apply AI machine learning and automation to enhance scalability consistency and control across Corporate Events processes.
- Cross-functionalparticipation -
- Contributeinthe multi-team implementation of the Quarterly Index Rebalancing process
- Participate in designing scopingimplementingetc. of new product launches relating to MSCI IndexesleveragingAI tools for data analysis testing and documentation.
Desired experience and qualifications:
- 7 experience in the financial sector with direct experience in equity markets
- Bachelor orMasters Degree in Finance Economics or Mathematics (Including equivalents of CA CFA FRM MMS MBA).Engineeringdegree is preferred.
- Highly motivatedindividualwith critical thinking curiosity and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to effectively work with diverse cultures in a global team; sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural norms/styles. Flexible in working hours
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Demonstratedtrack recordinpeople management and handling of challenging environment
- Ability tounderstand impact ofcorporate actions on passiveand activefund managers portfolio
- Strong excel word and power point skillsand familiarity with automation data analysis or AI-assisted tools.
