Responsibilities

Join CP24 Torontos Breaking News where speed accuracy and storytelling come together in a live high-impact environment. We are looking for a Weekend/Weeknight Anchor/Reporter who thrives on breaking news has strong editorial instincts and can deliver compelling real-time storytelling across platforms. This role is central to CP24s Local. Local. Local. approachwriting reporting and contributing to coverage that reflects the city as it happens.

  • Contribute to breaking news coverage by anchoring and reporting writing and updating stories in real time
  • Collaborate closely with producers assignment editors reporters and anchors to build and evolve coverage
  • Generate and develop local story ideas that reflect the issues people and communities of Toronto
  • Write clear concise and engaging news copy headlines and banners for live broadcast
  • Contribute to multiplatform coverage with content for digital social and radio
  • Support live programming with fast accurate updates and strong editorial judgment
  • Back up anchor as required
  • Other duties as assigned
Critical Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in broadcast news anchoring and reporting
  • Strong editorial judgment with a clear understanding of what leads the local news day
  • Proven ability to write clean accurate and compelling copy under tight deadlines
  • Ability to report gather information and contribute original content in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in a live newsroom setting
  • Demonstrated ability to distill complex information into clear concise storytelling
  • Experience contributing to breaking news coverage in real time
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a live news environment
  • Post-secondary education in journalism or broadcasting
  • Knowledge of iNews is an asset
  • Experience covering major local breaking or developing news stories

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
