The Role:
Under general supervision operates sewer flusher flusher/vacuum and vacuum excavation equipment and performs manual and equipment operating duties in the performance of various Public Works construction maintenance or operational functions.
In this Role you will:
- Performs water quality and system tests and takes corrective actions
- Performs hand excavation backfilling restoration brickwork and pipe laying
- Maintains operates and inspects water distribution and wastewater collection system assets
- Assists in watermain tapping sewer main rodding hydrant repair and CCTV inspection service
- Operates sewer flusher flusher/vacuum and vacuum excavation equipment in the performance of water/wastewater installation and maintenance activities
- Ensures all work is performed in compliance with relevant standards legislation and regulations
- Investigates complaints faults or problems and determines causes and remedies
- Trains and instructs less experienced personnel in specific operations and maintenance duties
May participate in inspections and audits - Executes duties in a tactful and courteous manner maintains a neat appearance and performs duties in a way that conveys a positive image of the Region of Peel
What the Role Requires:
- Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent
- Minimum three (3) years of job related experience
- Minimum acceptable MECP certification in Wastewater Collection OIT and a Water Distribution Class 1 or Wastewater Collection Level 1 and a Water Distribution OIT preference for progressive advancement to the certification of the subsystem class level
- Meter Installers Certificate preferred
- Ability to operate and maintain a variety of manual and power equipment
- Ability to read write speak and understand English
- Capable of accurately completing work forms and reports
- Must have a working knowledge of computers
- Must have a working knowledge of applicable regulations as they apply to compliance
- Must successfully complete regulatory training and mandatory retraining courses
- Physically able to perform requirements of the job
- Possess a Class DZ license in good standing with preference for AZ
