Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
This position is an opportunity provided through Canada Summer Jobs. Its purpose is to support the warehouse work of the Edmonton CRC through organizing donations and maintaining cleanliness.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Assists the driver(s) in the loading and unloading of materials in the shipping/receiving areas of the CRC.
Processes materials by scanning into inventory software system packing and storing in a safe and organized manner while protecting the integrity of all donations received.
Ensures all food items are stored correctly to avoid any potential contamination of such materials.
Ensures perishable food items are stored in the cooler or freezer as appropriate.
Operates warehouse equipment such as pallet jack maintenance tools a safe manner.
Complies with all safety procedures as required and directed including but not limited to wearing of safety shoes/boots glasses gloves clothing (if/as required) etc.
Cleans organizes and keeps free from hazard all areas of the CRC as required and directed.
Communicates all concerns for safety of persons/property promptly.
Performs other related responsibilities as may be assigned by the Operations Manager or other team members as instructed.

MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position reports directly to the CRC Operations Manager or in their absence the CRC Resource Manager.

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
Accountable for minor materials management maintenance safekeeping effective usage and distribution of office supplies and equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work location for this position is usually in a warehouse facility setting.
Occasional travel may be required between work locations and/or for training purposes.
Work is subject to frequent interruptions and multitasking temperature variations and equipment and general office noise (ie. People talking phones ringing)
The work may require frequent amounts of sitting standing walking bending repetitive lifting/sorting and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds or up to 50 pounds with assistance.
This is a full-time position based on 35 hours per week normal hours of work 8:30 A.M 4:00 P.M Monday Friday; ½ hour unpaid meal break.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Qualifications and Certifications:
The government of Canada funded this job through the Canada Summer Jobs program. To apply for this job you must:
Be aged between 15 and 30 years on the start date of the job.
Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and
Be a Canadian citizen a permanent resident of Canada or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canda.

International students and other temporary residents of Canada are not eligible.

You can only work one full-time job funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program at a time.

Willing to wear Salvation Army logo and branded wear.
Must comply with all Salvation Army policies procedures and associated legislation.
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Armys health and safety policies and procedures.
Participate in mandatory orientation training including on-line abuse prevention certification Food Safety W.H.I.M.S. and other onboarding material as required.
Provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion. The screening is secured either through the National Canadian Policy Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.
May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
A valid class 5 drivers license is not required but considered an asset

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $17.45 to $21.81 with a maximum of $26.17.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
