Volunteer Grant Writer

Reports To: Manager Grant Writing and Institutional Funding

Position Summary

CivicAction is seeking a Volunteer Grant Writer to support funding research grant development and proposal writing activities.

Working closely with the Manager Grant Writing and Institutional Funding the volunteer will help identify and assess funding opportunities support grant applications and contribute to CivicActions resource development efforts.

This role is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in grant writing fundraising and nonprofit development while contributing to initiatives that create positive community impact across the GTHA.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct prospect research to identify and qualify grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
• Draft edit and coordinate grant proposals letters of inquiry and supporting application materials.
• Track deadlines and maintain accurate records of grant submissions and outcomes.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has strong writing research and communication skills.
• Is organized detail-oriented and able to manage deadlines.
• Can work independently and collaboratively.
• Is comfortable using Microsoft Office and online research tools.
• Has an interest in community impact civic engagement public policy or the nonprofit sector.

Experience with grant writing fundraising proposal writing research or nonprofit work is an asset but not required.
