DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be the first point of contact for volunteers; creating a welcoming atmosphere and a culture of hospitality.
- Maintaining and supporting volunteer roles
- Maintaining and inputtinginformation into volunteer database
- Working with staff and volunteers to ensure donations are sorted and organized appropriately for our program areas.
- Support the dignity of our guests byseekingtoidentifytheir needs in a respectful manner.
- Be a supportive and proactive teammate to fellow support staff.
- Attend meetings and training as assigned.
- Respect proper boundaries with guests.
- Support the ministry within the Mustard Seed Community and act as a positive Mustard Seed ambassador.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Passion for fostering a deeper understanding of poverty and homelessness in churches and the community
- Empathy for the poor and a desire for greater understanding concerning poverty and justice issues in an urban center
- Completing post-secondary studies in ministry social work education community development youth and childcare studies or a related program
- Strong computercommunicationand conflict resolution skills
- Interest and skills in recreational activities such as sports or gardeningisan asset
- Strong teambuilding and leadership skills
- Between the ages of18- 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
- This posting will filloneposition and is temporary fromapproximately June22-August312026and it is a requirement that interns can attend all10weeks
WORKING CONDITIONS
- 35 hours per week;some eveningand weekend hoursmaybe requiredto accommodate the hours of the community hubs
- The working environment for this position requires moderate amounts of walking climbing standing sitting lifting carrying and daily interactions with colleagues and guests.
- This position is often fast-paced andrequires moderate amount of mental effort to analyze information and problem solve.
- This position requires the training and usage of two-way radio communications and MS Office based computer programming.
