We are looking for an Urbanism Planning (UP) Portfolio Manager to oversee a portfolio of planning urban design policy engagement and community development projects. This newly created role is responsible for portfolio performance resource planning financial oversight and mentoring urban planning and urban design colleagues across the practice.
As a strategic delivery and operations leader you will work closely with practice leaders and multidisciplinary teams to drive operational excellence support sustainable growth and achieve exceptional client outcomes.
A key aspect of the role is developing and overseeing project plans schedules budgets risk management strategies and quality processes to ensure successful project delivery throughout the project lifecycle.

Lead Portfolio Performance and Delivery Excellence: As a Portfolio Manager you will guide portfolio performance by supporting project managers optimizing resources overseeing financial performance and establishing project plans schedules budgets risk management strategies and quality frameworks that drive successful project outcomes and lasting client value.
Collaborate with Industry Leaders: Partnering with practice leaders and multidisciplinary teams youll strengthen client relationships contribute to strategic growth initiatives and help foster a high-performing collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement.
Develop People and Grow Capability: This role provides the opportunity to mentor and develop colleagues strengthen our planning and urban design capabilities and support the next generation of leaders across the practice.
What Youll Do
- Lead portfolio delivery across social infrastructure public realm transit-oriented development community facilities parks campus planning and other city-building initiatives.
- Champion our growing UP team collaborating with professionals at all stages of career leveraging expertise from across Canada to support project excellence and growth.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including planning urban design architecture landscape architecture engineering engagement ESG and project management professionals to deliver integrated solutions for clients.
- Engage clients stakeholders Indigenous communities and public-sector partners to build long-term relationships and identify opportunities for future work.
- Lead winning pursuits and proposals by helping develop client-focused strategies project approaches and delivery plans.
Qualifications :
What Were Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)
- BA/BS Eight (8) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Leadership: Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams managing staff and coordinating consultants across multiple projects or programs. Demonstrated success mentoring professionals and building high-performing teams.
- Portfolio & Project Management: Minimum eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience delivering complex planning urban design policy engagement or community development projects including responsibility for budgets schedules risk management and resource planning in a consulting or public-sector environment.
- Professional Designation: Registered Professional Planner (RPP/MCIP) or eligible for registration. Equivalent professional credentials in a related discipline may be considered.
- Financial Acumen: Experience managing project and portfolio financial performance including forecasting utilization project profitability budgeting contract administration and revenue management.
- Client & Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients community stakeholders Indigenous communities government agencies and multidisciplinary teams.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal written presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.Quality & Delivery Focus: Strong understanding of planning and development processes with a commitment to quality ethical practice risk management and continuous improvement.Collaborative Leadership: Proven ability to work across disciplines foster collaboration influence without direct authority and align teams around common goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- 15 years of progressive experience leading complex planning urban design infrastructure public realm or community development projects and portfolios.
- Urban Design Leadership: Demonstrated ability to evaluate communicate and guide urban design outcomes through design reviews visual communication tools stakeholder workshops and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Project Management: PMP designation or equivalent project management credential considered an asset.
- Multi-office Leadership: Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices markets and geographic regions.
