Reporting to the Supervisor Operations Urban Forestry this position will be primarily in support of independently updating the GIS-based tree inventory through onsite walking Town streets and Parks. This position will perform data collection inspections analytical work and supporting staff on other initiatives as required. Small tree care and maintenance will be part of this role.

How you contribute to our organization:

  • Collect Tree Inventory data throughout the Municipality using GIS-based data collection tools.
  • Safely operates and maintains all applicable equipment. Driving a Town pick-up truck will be required.
  • Delivery of notices daily record keeping with diligent and accurate reporting.
  • Assists with arboricultural operations including pruning young trees replenishing mulch installing tree guards and fitting waterbags to young trees.
  • Communicates and assists Urban Forestry team with contracts contractors and on occasion external agencies to keep updated schedules of work activities.
  • Provides support in administrative tasks including project file management community engagement and other Urban Forestry team initiatives.

What you bring to the team:

  • Requires successful completion of Grade 12 high school or equivalent.
  • Enrolled in college or university and pursuing further training/education in arboriculture horticulture urban forestry or related environmental field (e.g. biology sciences etc.) is preferred.
  • Must have a Class G drivers licence in good standing and ability to submit a clean drivers abstract
  • 1 year of experience working with digital data collection tools (e.g. ESRI)
  • Competent independent abilities ISA Certified Arborist or equivalent would be an asset.
  • Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ) would be preferred.
  • Ability or willingness to learn how to identify and assess local tree species and tree risks.
  • Ability to learn how to use various digital data recording tablets or phones for tree inventory and assessment needs.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Applications


Pay Rate: $25.65 - $30.17 plus 4% vacation pay and optional enrolment in OMERS pension plan
Hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday
Location: Joint Operations Centre 6558 8th Line Beeton
Dates: October 5 2026 March 15 2027
