Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a Transportation Planner to join our growing transportation team. We are actively working to make communities more sustainable through strategic multimodal transportation planning. We are looking for candidate with diverse skills including policy review and analysis data analysis technical and policy writing an awareness of key planning frameworks and policies (i.e. Provincial Policy Statement Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Ontario Traffic Manuals) experience with public and/or stakeholder consultation and knowledge of sustainable transportation planning role will also have a business development component including responding to request for proposals and general business development activities including maintaining and developing industry relationships.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills be eager to learn and enjoy working in a fast-paced consulting environment. Project management skills including task coordination budget management client communications and deliverable review as well as strong writing presentation and public speaking skills will be of benefit in this position.
You will play an importantrolein supporting project task work conducting analysis preparing documentation reporting and presenting findings. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with a wide variety of professionals including active transportation transit goods movement placemaking safety traffic engineering modelling etc.

Role accountabilities:
In this role you will support and lead a variety of transportation planning tasks within our Mobility Advisory team. This includes conducting policy and planning review and analysis performing transportation data and network analysis and contributing to the development of broader strategic plans such as transportation master plans and policies relating to safety and complete streets. You will also be responsible for contributing to and leading the writing of key reports including background context reports needs assessments network development documentation and consultation summaries.
You will play a key role in consultation planning and execution preparing presentations and materials for meetings and analyzing feedback from stakeholders. Working in multijurisdictional planning environments you will balance the priorities of multiple agencies and help evaluate planning solutions through the development of multi-criteria evaluation frameworks and key performance indicators. Managing client relationships will also be a critical aspect of your responsibilities ensuring high-quality service and successful project outcomes.
Additionally you will be expected to stay informed about ongoing and evolving industry and municipal best practices in transportation planning. This includes areas such as equity goods movement complete streets new and emerging technologies road user safety traffic calming active transportation travel demand management public health and other community-building this position you will lead project tasks on multidisciplinary teams with responsibilities that include budget management quality control and contributing to and leading proposal development efforts.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum of six years of experience in a related field
- University degree in urban/regional planning civil engineering or related field
- Eligibility to become a Registered Professional Planner or a Professional Engineer is an asset
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and knowledge of Microsoft Access ArcGIS or Adobe Illustrator an asset
