Job Summary

The Total Rewards Coordinator (Benefits & Absence Management) supports the administration of benefits programs with a focus on absence management claims including occupational (WSIB) and non-occupational absences (STD LTD unpaid leaves). Reporting to the Manager Total Rewards the incumbent also coordinates administrative support for additional benefits and rewards programs including group benefits retirement and recognition programs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Functional

  • Coordinate the administration of occupational and non-occupational employee absences from intake through return-to-work tracking in partnership with leaders HR Payroll and external providers including:
    • Short Term Disability
    • Long Term Disability
    • Non-Occupational Leaves of Absence
    • Occupational Claims
  • Maintain correspondence documentation and confidential files and records associated with claims from initial date of absence through return to work.
  • Serve as a key contact for employees leaders HR Business Partners Payroll and external stakeholders regarding absence management and escalate complex or sensitive matters as appropriate. 
  • Generate and maintain reports monitor trends and identify opportunities to improve administrative processes. 
  • Assist with group benefits and retirement savings administration and reporting.  
  • Coordinate activities related to the long service awards program. 
  • Partner with other members of Total Rewards to maintain and update the HR employee portal. 
  • Provide support to employees and respond to inquiries requiring a general understanding of policies procedures and Indigos rewards programs while guiding employees through standard processes and next steps.

Qualifications :

Qualifications / Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of combined Benefits HR or Total Rewards experience
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Human Resources or equivalent experience
  • Experience in the retail/customer service industry preferred 
  • Demonstrated experience with understanding benefits and HR program principles and practices
  • Additional experience in benefit program transitions preferred
  • Knowledgeable regarding relevant legislation

Competencies / Skills / Attributes

  • Effective communication skills including excellent written oral and presentation abilities
  • Demonstrated time management skills including the ability to adhere to schedules and manage processes; the ability to organize and prioritize work to manage timelines and to meet defined deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong with numbers and detail-oriented
  • Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office products with a focus on Excel Word and PowerPoint
  • Customer-focused with the ability to manage multiple priorities at one time while delivering results
  • Experience using People Management Software (UKG Pro an asset)
