Job Summary
Before applying: Candidates must be able to work a biweekly rotating shift schedule (6:00 AM-3:30 PM and 3:45 PM-1:15 AM) including overtime and Saturdays as required.
Compensation ranges from $32.15 to $37.15 per hour based on experience and qualifications with a $1.00/hour afternoon shift premium and overtime pay after 42 hours per week.
Our St. Thomas Ontario plant (North Star Windows and Doors) is seeking a Team Leader/Production Supervisor to oversee windows and doors daily operations in our manufacturing facility.
This role provides day-to-day supervision of the Windows and Doors Production team on an assigned area and shift and is accountable for ensuring safety quality and productivity standards are met or exceeded. The Windows and Doors Production team consists of approximately 300 employees across two shifts operating on a biweekly rotation.
Reporting directly to the Senior Team Leader the Team Leaders responsibilities include:
- Supervision of the department to ensure manpower is appropriately assigned and trained to meet safety productivity and quality standards
- Monitoring of equipment to ensure it is properly set up and maintained in working order
- Conducting safety training meetings audits and workplace inspection as required
- Conduct incident investigations and record findings as required (first aid cases medical aids recordable incidents near misses etc.) ensuring root causes are identified and corrected promptly
- Maintaining appropriate personnel productivity quality and attendance records
- Maintaining and continuously improving standards of housekeeping and maintenance within the department
- Ability to problem solve and manage line operations to meet productivity requirements despite daily challenges
- In partnership with the Senior Team Leader and Human Resources support performance management through constructive feedback coaching and formal actions when necessary ensuring alignment with company policies
- Lead by example in collaborating across functions to achieve shared goals and contribute to a positive team-oriented culture
- Participate in ongoing leadership development and training opportunities to build skills and capability
- Other duties as required to ensure that business needs are met
Qualifications :
- Prior experience in manufacturing environment required (windows and doors experience an asset)
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience required or demonstrated clear progression showing readiness for a leadership role
- Proven leadership in a safety-sensitive environment with accountability for enforcing health and safety standards and protecting the health and safety of team members
- Strong people skills with the ability to lead through clear direction and consistency
- Able to build solid working relationships and support a team-focused environment
- Ability to identify bottlenecks and take action to keep production moving and meet targets despite daily pressures
- Good understanding of production processes and product within their area
- Working knowledge of equipment operation setup and basic maintenance
- Strong focus on quality and meeting production standards
- Continuous improvement mindset with a practical hands-on approach
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality
- Reliable with a strong attendance record
- Willing and able to complete required training (Supervisory Skills Health & Safety First Aid)
- Able to work biweekly rotating shift schedule (Day Shift: 6:00 AM 3:30 PM; Afternoon Shift: 3:45 PM 1:15 AM) including overtime and Saturdays as required.
The hourly compensation for this position ranges from $32.15 to $37.15. Final compensation will be commensurate with the successful candidates qualifications and experience.
