Job Description
Our Toronto client as part of its ongoing strategic growth is seeking to add a Tax Partner to its Toronto office. This role will involve advising clients on a wide range of sophisticated tax matters while contributing to the continued development and profile of the firms tax practice. The firms tax practice advises on a wide spectrum of domestic and cross-border tax matters affecting corporations trusts estates and specialized entities including charities and not-for-profit organizations. Their tax group supports clients on complex tax planning structuring and compliance matters including corporate reorganizations mergers and acquisitions financings and the tax aspects of lending and investment addition the group advises private clients trusts and estates on strategies to minimize tax exposure and preserve wealth and has significant experience assisting organizations with governance fiduciary obligations and risk management considerations.

Responsibilities:
  • Advise corporate institutional and private clients on domestic and cross-border tax matters
  • Provide tax structuring advice in connection with corporate reorganizations mergers and acquisitions financings and investment and lending transactions
  • Lead complex tax planning mandates including the preparation and review of tax memoranda opinions and strategic advice relating to compliance and risk management
  • Collaborate closely with the firms corporate litigation estates and regulatory groups to deliver integrated business-focused advice across transactions and disputes
  • Play an active role in business development including client relationship management practice growth initiatives and thought leadership
  • Mentor and supervise associates junior lawyers and articling students
Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge:
  • LL.B. or J.D. degree (or equivalent)
  • Good standing with a Canadian Law Society
  • 10 years of tax law experience from a renowned tax firm or group
  • Excellent drafting analytical and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic client service orientation and an entrepreneurial outlook
