Systems Administrator

DUCA is looking for a System Administratorto join our growing team!

Job Purpose & Summary

The Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining upgrading and supporting DUCAs information technology systems and processes ensuring they align with the organizations standards and strategies. This position will also act as a primary escalation point for second-level help desk support and provide guidance to the Technical Support Analysts in resolving technology related issues as well as participate as required in project-based initiatives concerning DUCAs IT infrastructure components and solutions. The Systems Administrator will coordinate with fellow members of the Systems Administrator team and participate in knowledge sharing.

Key Accountabilities & Duties

  • Administer and Support (Install Configure Test Maintain) server and endpoint operating systems application software and system management tools.
  • Manage and monitor alerting inventory and reporting for endpoint devices and their configuration states and respond to error indicators failures and alerts.
  • Maintain patching processes and schedules for security hardening collaborating with the Cybersecurity team.
  • Administer user rights and access to network data and application resources while maintaining the highest levels of security and process compliance.
  • Manage domain environment including Active Directory and Entra ID Group Policy and Certificates.
  • Maintain and monitor health status and readiness of the backup and disaster recovery environments and participate in disaster recovery exercises.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for configurations and processes.
  • Assist with project-based IT Infrastructure initiatives where required.
  • Work with 3rdparty vendors to support existing infrastructure where required.
  • Provide second-level support for internal customers and Helpdesk employees.
  • Perform other IT-related duties as assigned.

Occupational Experience & Education Requirements

  • 1 years experience working as a Systems Administrator or equivalent demonstrated capacities
  • 3 years experience working in the information technology field
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science or a related technical discipline or the equivalent work experience
  • Microsoft AWS VMware Cisco Palo Alto and/or ITIL certifications an asset
  • Experience administering and maintaining a VMware virtualized server environment with Windows and Linux servers
  • Experience administering and maintaining a Public Cloud or Hybrid Cloud server environment
  • Experience imaging deploying upgrading and supporting Windows 10/11 workstations
  • Experience upholding patch management processes including security releases version upgrades and system image lifecycles
  • Experience using and configuring ITSM solutions (ServiceNow Fresh Service)
  • Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls and Cisco Layer 2 & 3 Switches
  • Other assets include:
    • Experience with financial systems and software
    • Experience upholding ITIL process standards including Incidents Requests Asset and Change Management
    • Experience with backup and recovery tools (Commvault Metallic VMware VCDR or SRM)
    • Experience with public cloud management (AWS Azure)
    • Experience with PowerShell and creating/maintaining scripts

Knowledge Skills & Attributes

  • Oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Strong organization prioritization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines
  • Strong troubleshooting ability
  • Proficient with current Microsoft 365 technologies (Entra ID/Azure AD Windows Hello for Business & FIDO2 Password-less Auth Exchange Online InTune MDM Compliance & Management SharePoint OneDrive Teams)
  • Familiarity with VMware environment and tools including vSphere/vCenter and VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery or VMware Site Recovery Manager
  • Experience in installing and supporting various application servers operating systems and domain services
  • Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information

Working Conditions

  • Ability to travel to DUCAs branches as required. It will also require occasional evening and weekend work sometimes with little advanced notice.

Salary: The annual salary range for this position is $57857 to $86785. Actual annual base salaries will vary depending on relevant job-related factors such as experience knowledge skills qualifications and education/training. This position may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
