Job Summary

Join our team as the Supervisor of Facility Asset Management and drive asset management excellence across our Citys expansive facilities capital infrastructure!

Reporting to the Director Lifecycle Management the Supervisor of Facility Asset Management oversees the City of Edmontons facility condition assessment and capital renewal programs. You will play a critical role in managing an expansive portfolio of over 1000 facilities with a replacement value of $8.7 billion ensuring that our data-driven insights translate into effective long-term planning and programming for the corporation.

Beyond managing assets you will provide leadership to a dedicated team integrating functions and managing performance metrics to drive operational excellence. Your work will involve implementing strategies & business plans ensuring facility asset conditions are collected and monitored developing capital renewal plans and managing capital renewal funding. By fostering influential relationships with business partners and setting clear strategic priorities you will help shape the future of our citys facility management while leading a unit that serves as a cornerstone of our Lifecycle Management section.

What will you do

  • Lead and mentor a team of professionals fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment
  • Ensure staff are empowered have the competencies and are well equipped to perform their roles
  • Liaise with other departments branches sections units and external business partners to build relationships and ensure a fully integrated approach to facility asset management
  • Develop and maintain asset management plans systems and renewal program metrics and providing expert technical advisory and support throughout the facility lifecycle
  • Develop strategic-level plans procedures and guidelines which involves collaborating with business partners to implement major initiatives (e.g. facility lifecycle plans facilities portfolio analysis facilities asset management plan etc.)
  • Lead capital renewal planning and project prioritization considering renewal opportunities to address condition (physical capacity functionality) and other City policies and priorities

  • Knowledge training and/or education in Engineering Architecture Planning Construction or a related field
  • Related leadership experience within a large complex unionized organization
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in facilities program and asset management
  • Experience managing and collaborating with external consultants
  • Combinations of education and experience will be considered

Assets:

  • Professional Engineer (.) in good standing and registered as practicing with APEGA. Applicants in a different Canadian jurisdiction eligible for Inter-Provincial Mobility (IPMA) with APEGA may be considered
  • Certification and/or coursework/training in asset management project management financial management public administration change management; or other leadership training
