Job Summary
The Store Clerk (Part Time) is responsible for providing high quality customer service using product knowledge sales and other relevant techniques and is expected to perform these duties in a safe manner. The Store Clerk is also responsible for effectively handling transactions ensuring our mandate to manage the safe and responsible sale of beverage alcohol and cannabis is adhered to keeping the store ready for business following proper procedures for handling breakages and performing other responsibilities necessary for the efficient operation and maintenance of the store.
This is a part-time opportunity and the successful candidate will be guaranteed 16 hours each week (4 hours on Monday 4 hours on Friday and 8 hours on Saturday) scheduled based on operational needs during opening hours (8am 9pm). Additional hours will also be offered depending on the successful candidates availability.
Bargaining Unit: This is a NSGEU local 470 bargaining unit position.
Reporting StructureReports To: Store Manager
QualificationsAs a qualified candidate you will have:
- Be at least 19 years of age
- Have your Grade 12 GED or equivalent
- At least 2 years of experience providing exceptional customer service in a retail hospitality or other customer-facing environment.
- Be physically able to lift 40lbs
- Be willing to complete a Criminal Record check upon hire or provide one issued within the last 6 months
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts particularly evenings and weekends and be available for the guaranteed hours listed above on a regular and consistent basis. (4 hours on Monday 4 hours on Friday and 8 hours on Saturday)
As the ideal candidate you will also have:
- Experience managing inventory stocking shelves merchandising and maintaining product displays.
- Experience in educating customers and making product recommendations based on their needs.
- Experience working in a regulated industry or adhering to compliance requirements.
- Experience resolving customer concerns in a professional and respectful manner.
- Experience working in the beverage alcohol or cannabis industry
- Experience working with cash and/or experience using modern Point of Sales systems.
An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent.
