Science North is looking to recruit a STEM Specialist Informal Programs to join the Sudbury Education and Northern Programs team for an 18-month period covering a maternity leave. The STEM Specialist is a key member of the Education and Northern Programs team leading and supporting programs and initiatives for Northeastern Ontario. As the successful candidate you will work with children and a variety of audiences actively communicate and promote Science North programs and deliver quality educational and informal science experiences both in Sudbury and on the road. Position highlights:Develop and deliver informal science programs for Sudbury and throughout Northeastern Ontario including; summer science camps PA Day programs March break and holiday camps along with other workshops and eventsWork with a team of marketing professionals to promote and market programsLead and direct venue rentals and other logistics for multiple communities and teams including travel teamsLead and monitor registrations and oversee registrations and participant inquiriesRecruit train and coach a diverse team of camp deliverersEnsure health and safety of all participants and staffMonitor evaluate obtain and act on participant feedbackWrite scripts signage and content for programs and specialty workshopsLiaise with parents/guardians respond to inquiries Manage and control area expenditures and submit financial reportingProactively identify needs/issues and problem solve/establish solutions address complaints/concernsUse your exceptional interpersonal skills to foster relationships stakeholders throughout Northern Ontario Compile reports maintain programming information and other required informationQualifications:Formal background in a STEM field or equivalentexperience in science recreation & leisure education or another related fieldExtensive experience working with children and a variety of audiencesDemonstrated experience in program development and deliveryExceptional interpersonal skills with fun and positive attitudeExcellent verbal and written communication skills in in English French language skills would be an assetValid G drivers license reflecting a 3-year clean driving abstract non-negotiableA strong work ethic and a passion for working in a fast-paced ever-changing environmentWillingness and ability to travel throughout Northern Ontario at times solo including evening and weekend travel/workDemonstrated organizational planning and project management skillswith the ability to manage multiple and potentially conflicting prioritiesSuperior attention to detail Exemplary aptitude for problem-solving and resourcefulnessCompensation Highlights:18-month contract opportunityCompetitive salary starting at $47000 to $57000 per yearFlexible work arrangementsOptional participation extended health dental and vision benefits (50% employer-paid) following 6 monthsScience North annual family membershipFree or discounted admission to other attractions outside Sudbury Science North facilities and program discounts fitness membership contributionFree on-site parkingDont meet every single requirementAt Science North we are dedicated to building a diverse inclusive and authentic workplace so if youre excited about this role but your past experience doesnt align perfectly with every qualification in the job description we encourage you to apply anyways.
