Description

The Specialist Employee Relations is responsible for designing documenting implementing and continuously improving Employee Relations (ER) processes tools and frameworks to support the transition of operational activities to HR Business Operations (GSO).

This role helps enable the Employee Relations Centre of Expertise (CoE) to scale globally by ensuring ER processes are clearly defined standardized documented and transferable across regions. Initially focused on process design operational excellence and documentation the role may evolve to provide increased advisory support on employee relations matters and more complex cases over time. The Specialist will work closely with Employee Relations leaders HR Business Partners (HRBPs) GSO teams and global stakeholders to support harmonization consistency and adoption of ER practices across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Document analyze and optimize employee relations processes including current-state and future-state workflows to support transition to HR Business Operations (GSO).

  • Participate in process mapping initiatives and support the design of scalable and sustainable ER operating models.

  • Develop and maintain operational documentation including standard operating procedures (SOPs) user guides manager toolkits job aids templates and process documentation.

  • Establish and maintain clear guidelines to support the consistent execution of ER activities across regions.

  • Support the standardization of employee relations practices including performance management investigations disciplinary processes case documentation and policy application.

  • Ensure ER processes are aligned with global frameworks governance requirements and case management practices.

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of consistent case quality and documentation standards.

  • Identify opportunities to improve process effectiveness user experience operational efficiency and scalability.

  • Partner closely with global Employee Relations teams to support harmonized approaches and best practices across the organization.

  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters policy interpretation and low- to moderate-complexity cases while escalating higher-risk situations as appropriate.

  • Serve as a key Employee Relations resource supporting HRBPs and GSO teams through practical guidance on tools processes and documentation.

  • Develop and deliver training sessions process walkthroughs and knowledge-transfer activities to support adoption of ER frameworks and tools.

  • Act as a primary point of contact for Employee Relations operational processes following the transition of responsibilities to GSO.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Industrial Relations Law Human Relations or a related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience in employee relations labor relations human resources or a related discipline.

  • Experience supporting employee relations processes such as performance management workplace investigations disciplinary processes policy interpretation or case management.

  • Knowledge of employment legislation workplace standards HR policies and employee relations practices.

  • Experience documenting and improving operational processes workflows procedures or service delivery models.

  • Ability to translate business and HR requirements into structured end-to-end processes.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional and global stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in English and French.

  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment (2-3 days per week onsite).

  • No travel required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within a unionized environment.

  • Experience supporting both unionized and non-unionized employee populations.

  • Experience participating in large-scale HR transformations shared services implementations or operational transitions.

  • Experience working with HR systems and case management platforms including Workday.

  • Ability to analyze global frameworks and adapt processes to regional needs while maintaining consistency.

  • Experience creating training materials user guides and operational documentation.

  • Knowledge of global employee relations practices and governance models.

  • Proficiency in a third language.
