Must have:

• Provides general and situation-specific GIS application and infrastructure architecture interpretation advice and expertise to other project and/or enterprise level I&IT project teams client management and staff clients and external contractors
• You have extensive experience with OPS Enterprise Architecture Gating processes with an emphasis on Architectural Gate Point 1 and 2 and the creation review and engagement process

Description:

• To respond to the priorities of the Government of Ontario through the passage of the Bill 5 Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act 2025 the resource may be partially assigned to Bill 5 related projects or initiatives on an as needed basis
• A Senior Solution Architect is needed to support Enterprise Architecture artifact creation / update for the Geospatial Ontario IT Program when seeking corporate governance Architecture Review Board approval at Architecture Governance Point AGP 3
• The successful candidate will be asked to work with business and technical resources to update Solution architecture artifacts at the enterprise and or core business levels for the Ontario Government
• The successful candidate would be joining an augmented project team including Solution Architects Designers Project Managers Service Designers Business Analysts SMEs technical teams and client leads
• Led by you the project team will work through AGP 1 and AGP 2 upgrades in preparation for AGP 3 approval
• Technical focus includes GIS Delivery Platform GDP applications web services data geomatics tools and integrated platforms

Responsibilities:

• Undertakes and or leads in-depth application and enterprise infrastructure architecture reviews and assessments
• Develops and supports project deliverables aligned with enterprise priorities
• Researches develops implements and maintains architecture policies and standards
• Provides GIS application and infrastructure architecture expertise and advice to stakeholders

Skills

Experience and Skill Set Requirements

Enterprise Architecture Engagement Leadership Experience (30%):

• Provides GIS application and infrastructure architecture expertise to stakeholders
• Total IT experience of at least 10 years including 5 years leading solution architecture on large complex projects
• Experience across GIS tools APIs Data Marts Data Lakes BI Machine Learning Data Science workflows and Security
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to define end-to-end technical solutions aligned with enterprise architecture
• Experience performing cost benefit analysis and feasibility studies
• Experience facilitating JAD sessions and developing architecture artifacts
• Expertise in GIS architecture and enterprise infrastructure
• Knowledge of cybersecurity and product management best practices
• Experience applying architecture and development best practices
• Strong ability to communicate complex concepts to business and technical audiences

Enterprise Gating Documentation Experience (40%):

• Extensive experience with OPS Enterprise Architecture Gating processes
• Knowledge of GO-ITS standards
• Experience developing Solution Architecture using OPS EA methodologies
• Experience in Data Architecture and Information Architecture
• Experience with Information Management including Data Governance and MDM
• Experience aligning Solution Architecture Document with BAD SRD and IAD
• Knowledge of conceptual schemas across application technology security and data
• Ability to create architecture supporting business and system requirements
• Experience with ideation functional requirements and test strategy planning
• Ability to align Non-Functional Requirements in architecture solutions
• Experience creating logical application schema and system structures
• Experience modeling complex systems components and integrations
• Knowledge of AODA standards
• Ability to maintain governance and controls over solution architecture
