Job Summary
SYSTRA Canada is part of the SYSTRA group an international consulting and engineering group a world leader in the design of transport infrastructures. SYSTRA Canada is an engineering and consulting firm whose primary focus is to offer transportation solutions whether for passengers or goods: feasibility studies of building a new railway line increasing the capacity of the existing infrastructure privatization of a railway.
We are seeking an experienced SolidWorks / PDM Administrator and Designer to join our Engineering team in Montreal in a permanent hybrid role (50% SW / PDM Administration and 50% Design). Reporting to the Mechanical Team Lead this person will be primarily responsible for administering and optimizing the PDM and SolidWorks environments while improving overall system performance. As time permits the candidate will also support design activities.
Administration
- Assist with PDM administration and configuration and manage SolidWorks updates and deployment across teams.
SW & PDM Efficiency
- Assess and improve vault performance while resolving PDM/SW bugs crashes check-in issues and optimizing settings configurations and templates.
PDM Workflow / Safety
- Improve or implement PDM workflows and modify file cards folder cards and variables.
Areas of Improvement
- Define and document design drafting and storage rules for large parts and assemblies and develop design guidelines with best practices and examples.
- Clean up and update the database and libraries and create macros to automate repetitive tasks.
Documentation and Reporting
- Provide progress reports recommendations proposed solutions and document all PDM workflow and software configuration changes.
Training and Support
- Conduct training sessions and develop user guides/materials on workflows updates and best practices.
Design
- Design and modify mechanical structures equipment and interior fittings for rolling stock perform layout studies and 3D design prepare manufacturing assembly and installation drawings and define technical requirements materials and components in compliance with applicable standards.
Compliance and Standards
- Ensure all changes comply with company standards data safety requirements and design best practices.
Education: Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related function is preferred.
Years of experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of working experience in SolidWorks / PDM Administrative functions
Technical skills:
- Proficient with SolidWorks (3D and drawings) PDM and MS 365
- Clear verbal and written communication skills both in French and in English*
