Senior Telecom Drafter
Job Summary

As a Senior Telecom Drafter you will play a key drafting and CAD coordination role in the delivery of mission-critical telecommunications systems across a variety of projects for CIMAs key clients. Our telecommunications team works with industrial and public-sector clients across power utilities energy transportation telecommunications carriers and other critical infrastructure sectors.
You will produce and coordinate complex telecommunications drawing packages in 2D and 3D; interpret engineering design inputs; perform drawing quality reviews; identify drawing conflicts and interface issues; and work closely with engineers designers and project teams to develop accurate constructible and high-quality telecommunications deliverables.
You will also provide drafting guidance and mentoring to other team members and support the development of drafting standards templates and quality practices. Primary Responsibilities
- Create and revise complex telecommunications CAD drawings and complete drawing packages in 2D and 3D including system block diagrams network diagrams equipment layouts rack elevations panel layouts wiring and interconnection diagrams cable routing details sections and installation drawings.
- Interpret engineering sketches markups vendor information client standards field information and design inputs and accurately incorporate them into drawing deliverables.
- Prepare bills of materials cable schedules equipment lists nameplate schedules and other drawing-related schedules and data sheets as required.
- Review drawings for completeness accuracy consistency constructability and compliance with project and client drafting standards.
- Identify drawing clashes inconsistencies missing information and potential design conflicts and coordinate resolution with engineers and designers.
- Coordinate CAD and drawing interfaces across multiple telecom work packages project stages and related technical disciplines.
- Support record/as-built updates drawing package closeout and document control activities.
- Support the Drafting Manager and senior technical team in developing drafting practices templates standards and quality controls.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate drafters.
- Participate in site visits and field verification activities as required.
Qualifications :
- Degree or diploma in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Technology Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or equivalent technical training/certification.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant drafting experience preferably including telecommunications utilities industrial transportation or other critical infrastructure projects.
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and strong capability in 2D and 3D CAD drafting.
- Demonstrated experience producing complete drawing packages from engineering inputs sketches markups vendor information and client standards.
- Strong knowledge of drawing organization layering references plotting document control and CAD quality practices.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail with strong communication coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently on complex drafting assignments while collaborating effectively with engineering and project teams.

Experience with several of the following drafting tools deliverables and practices is preferred commensurate with the level of the position.
- Telecom Drawings:
- System block and network diagrams; equipment and rack layouts; panel layouts; wiring and interconnection diagrams; cable routing; installation details; sections and elevations; record/as-built drawings
- CAD / 2D-3D:
- AutoCAD; 2D and 3D drawing development; external references; layers; blocks; plotting; drawing setup and package management
- Drawing Coordination:
- Engineering markups; vendor drawings; field information; client standards; interdisciplinary interfaces; drawing review and clash/conflict identification
- Schedules & Data:
- Bills of materials; cable schedules; equipment lists; nameplate schedules; drawing-related schedules and data sheets
Assets
- Major Asset: Experience or exposure to Substation Design Suite (SDS) and AutoCAD Electrical including their use in developing coordinated 3D drawings/models and associated substation or telecommunications design deliverables.
- Experience or exposure to related engineering disciplines including Electrical Protection & Control (P&C) Civil and Structural design.
- Experience with power utility substation transmission and distribution transportation industrial or other critical infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of MicroStation Revit Civil 3D Navisworks Inventor GIS BIM workflows point clouds or clash-detection tools.
- Experience with CAD customization standards development templates blocks scripts or automation.
- Knowledge of applicable client drafting standards safety requirements and engineering drawing practices.
