Job Summary
Court Technology Services (CTS) within the Government of Alberta is seeking an Intermediate Application Analyst to support the modernization and operational stability of its court application ecosystem.
This role acts as a key liaison between judiciary stakeholders court operations vendors and technical teams ensuring application services are reliable secure and aligned with Justice system outcomes. The Analyst will play a central role in strengthening IT Service Management (ITSM) practices improving service delivery maturity and supporting both legacy and modern application platforms.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with experience in application support ITSM processes Agile environments and stakeholder engagement within complex or regulated organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Service Management & ITSM
Lead transition from legacy/ad-hoc support methods to structured ITSM processes (ServiceNow/Jira)
Coordinate major incident response and communication across stakeholders
Support change and release management to ensure safe deployments
Improve incident request and change workflows for service efficiency
Application & Business Analysis
Gather document and validate business requirements from judiciary and court staff
Translate business needs into functional and technical requirements
Monitor vendor performance and ensure SLA compliance
Maintain user guides process documentation and knowledge base content
Data & Platform Support
Support governance and access controls for data platforms (e.g. Snowflake or similar)
Assist with reporting dashboards and data quality validation
Support cloud/on-prem application transitions (Azure/AWS environments)
Ensure compliance with security privacy and judicial confidentiality standards
Process Improvement & Risk Management
Identify opportunities to improve application workflows and service delivery
Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing
Produce reports and analytics for leadership decision-making
Contribute to standardization of ITSM and operational processes
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience (one of the following):
University degree in IT or related field 3 years Application Analyst experience
OR
2-year diploma in IT or related field 5 years experience
OR
1-year certificate in IT or related field 6 years experience
OR
7 years Application Analyst experience
Must-Have Experience
1 year experience in User Acceptance Testing (planning and/or monitoring)
4 years experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM/ticketing tools
2 years experience in Agile/Scrum delivery environments supporting application work
Experience supporting application operations enhancements or production support
Nice to Have
Experience working in highly regulated environments (Government Healthcare Finance Legal etc.)
Exposure to data platforms data warehousing or reporting tools
Cloud literacy (Azure/AWS) and understanding of application/data migration
Experience with ITSM frameworks workflows Jira and documentation standards
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams
Excellent communication (written and verbal)
Ability to manage stress prioritize and handle conflict effectively
Strong stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical groups
Work Conditions
Mandatory in-person work at Edmonton CTS office (John E. Brownlee Building)
Must work within Canada due to security requirements
Government-issued equipment provided
Standard background check required prior to onboarding
Mandatory training includes privacy and security compliance modules
