Senior Research Assistant

This position has a term length of1 year plus 1 day.

Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

Translating Research in Elder Care (TREC) is a research program in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Alberta. TREC is a pan-Canadian and international program of applied research in continuing care (nursing homes). It functions in an integrated knowledge translation or partnered model. Additional information about the TREC research program is available at the following URL: https// are seeking a highly organized and resourceful Senior Research Assistant to support TRECs ongoing research in trauma-informed care. Working under the guidance of an experienced Project Coordinator the successful candidate will contribute to multiple complex research initiatives currently underway.

Key responsibilities include coordinating research team activities supporting stakeholder
engagement facilitating data collection and assisting with research administration. The role will involve communication with stakeholders care home staff and research participants as well as direct involvement in data collection activities. Some travel may be required.

• Coordinate and monitor multiple research projects to ensure milestones deliverables and project objectives are achieved within established timelines.
• Maintain and update project documentation including timelines protocols standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ethics materials
• Liaise with long-term care home leadership research partners and stakeholders to coordinate project activities workshops and data collection.
• Organize and support project administration including scheduling meetings preparing agendas tracking action items and maintaining project records.
• Conduct and support qualitative and quantitative data collection activities including surveys interviews focus groups and observations with long-term care home staff and leaders.
• Contribute to knowledge translation and reporting activities by supporting the preparation of reports presentations publications and other project materials and performing quality assurance reviews and editing.

• Bachelors in a relevant discipline such as Health Sciences or Public Health; Masters degree strongly preferred
• 2-3 years of related project coordination experience in health research setting is mandatory
• Demonstrated ability to work independently or with limited supervision
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and to multi-task while remaining organized
• Excellent project management skills
• Demonstrated superior written and oral communication skills
• Self-directed with excellent problem-solving skills
• High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint)
• Experience with interviews focus groups and qualitative research

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in health research an asset
• Experience with continuing care or trauma care an asset
• Experience using design/content development tools (e.g. Canva Vengage Adobe Creative Suite) to create visually engaging materials as asset
