Title: Senior Manager Corporate Affairs Canada
What you will do
Lets do this. Lets change the this vital role you will report to the Senior Director of Corporate Affairs for the ELMAC region comprised of Europe Latin America Middle East Africa and Canada. This person will be part of the commercial affiliate that is responsible for delivering important and innovative medicines to patients.
Role responsibilities include strategic communications planning execution and measurement; external communications including media relations digital media and social media; issues management and internal communications. The role will not have direct reports but will have local support from a public relations agency and will work closely with the Corporate Affairs strategic team in Portugal.
What you will do
- Combine Corporate Affairs technical expertise with a deep understanding of Canadas business priorities as part of our mission to serve patients. Serve as a member of the affiliate Leadership Team providing senior strategic counsel aligned to support these priorities Amgens corporate reputation and the evolving market dynamics.
- Work within a matrixed organization as an enabling partner by collaborating with other functions including Brand teams Value Access & Pricing Medical Affairs Government Affairs Human Resources and other teams to deliver against the countrys key priorities.
- Work in close coordination with the newly established ELMAC Corporate Affairs strategic team based in Portugal by leveraging provided materials and localizing to country-specific needs and opportunities. Serve as an important member of the ELMAC Corporate Affairs team proactively sharing insights and learnings.
- Focus on execution of tactics including external communications leadership messaging issues management and some internal communications which will include:
- Understand key audiences in Canada to ensure appropriate and aligned messaging.
- Track key trends tactical impact and signals in the market.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key journalists within Canada.
- Manage social media channels with appropriate strategy to reach target audiences.
- Support local issues management in partnership with regional and global colleagues when needed including monitoring and escalation.
- Leverage employee communications initiatives to convey important updates and support connectivity across internal audiences.
- Continue to learn about and leverage innovative tools to focus on highest impact work. This includes enterprise AI technologies
- Must understand local pharmaceutical policy environment and provide communications support in partnership with Government Affairs and Value Access & Pricing teams. Also understand ESG requirements and provide communications counsel and support accordingly.
- Understand and follow local processes regulations and laws. Responsible for ensuring the company is represented in alignment with corporate policies including Amgen brand governance.
What we expect of you
Basic Qualifications:
- Masters degree and 5 years of Business Marketing Communications or a related field experience OR
- Bachelors degree and 7 years of Business Marketing Communications or a related field experience OR
- Professional degree and 10 years of Business Marketing Communications Strategy Analytics or a related field experience OR
- High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Business Marketing Communications or a related field experience AND
- 2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams projects programs or directing the allocation of resources
- Professional fluency in English to operate in a truly global context
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong experience executing internal and external communications including executive messaging employee engagement media relations digital media and social media.
- Strong analytical capability with experience in measurement reporting and insights-driven decision-making.
- Highly self-directed leader with a proven ability to operate independently and drive outcomes in rapidly changing environments.
- Experience operating in a matrixed environment with responsibility for navigating local and enterprise priorities.
- Strong critical thinking and strategic planning skills with the ability to solve problems creatively yet compliantly.
- Experience in the healthcare sector and established media relationships within Canada.
