Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Toronto)

Job Description

The Senior Infrastructure Engineeris responsible fordesigning and leading the delivery of customer infrastructure solutions within the professional services organization. This role develops implementation plans mentors delivery engineers and ensures successful project execution.

To be successful in this role the Senior Infrastructure Engineer must have astrong work ethic and a hands-on approach to customer interaction and time management. Robust interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first approach are essential. While teamwork is expected the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment is crucial.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the pre-sales engineering team tovalidatethe solution.

• Lead architectural design and planning for customer projects.

• Develop deployment plans and technical documentation for mid-level engineers.

• Review and approve deployments performed by mid-level engineers.

• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices.

• Collaborate with project managers and customers to align solutions with requirements.

• Participate in customer architecture discussions and technical reviews.

• Maintain required vendor certifications.

Travel Requirements

• Ability to travel up to 45% of the time for post-sales implementation at customer sites.

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Minimum 7 years of experience in an MSP VAR ISP NOC or enterprise IT environment. Excellent verbal written and presentation communication skills.

• Ability to positively influence customers by proactivelyidentifyingpotential issues and steering them toward effective solutions.

• Extensive experience with Dell/EMC storage solutions (PowerScale/IsilonPowerStorePowerVaultUnity)

• Experience implementing andmaintainingVMware/BroadcomHyperV Nutanix orProxmoxenvironments and technologies.

• Experience with physical installation of rack-mounted equipment including labeling documentation and cable management.

• Proficiencyin installingmaintaining and supporting critical platforms related to business workloads.

• Ability to troubleshoot configuration software and infrastructure problems using advanced tools (Wireshark WindowsSysinternals FiddlerNetcat).

• Familiarity with Dell and CiscoToRnetworking technologies.

• Experience with networking/distributed computing technologies and services (DNS L2/L3 networking DHCP VLANs routing VPN).

• Ability to develop and recommend innovative automated and scalable solutions to both non-technical and technical audiences.

• Extensive experience creating andmaintainingtechnical documentation (rack elevations wiring diagrams network diagrams site surveys audit reports).

• Experience with hyper-converged systems (VxRail/VMwarevSAN Nutanix Azure Stack).
• Knowledge of various backup/replication and storage technologies (Veeam VMware vSAN NetApp vSphere Replication RP4VM).

• Ability to travel to customer locations for onsite support or hardware installations.

• Willingness towork offhours for planned maintenance project implementations or unplanned emergencies.

Desired Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Computer Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.

• Experience remotely administering medium or larger-sized data center environments. Scripting experience in commonly used languages (Python PowerShell Bash Perl) is a plus.

• Familiarity with Dell/EMC Storage Solutions particularlyPower Protect Data Manager Data Domain.
