This opportunity puts you at the forefront of ensuring regulatory compliance strengthening tax processes and providing strategic insights that support sound financial decision-making. You will partner across the business contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help ensure the organization remains aligned with evolving tax legislation and reporting one of the regions top employers and be part of something that truly makes a Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo ON a minimum of two (2) assigned consecutive days every other week plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum youll do:Ensure all corporate tax compliance requirements are completed accurately and on time including filings and remittances for federal and provincial jurisdictionsPrepare tax schedules and returns including corporate income tax insurance premium tax GST/HST PST and Investment Income Tax (IIT)Support quarterly and year-end tax provisions including determining taxable income for parent and subsidiary entitiesMonitor and interpret changes in tax legislation assess business impacts and communicate implications to key stakeholdersAssist with internal and external audits including tax provision audits and government (CRA/provincial) reviewsRespond to audit queries prepare supporting documentation and liaise with tax authorities as requiredProvide guidance and support to business units and corporate functions on tax-related mattersDevelop and maintain tax models analyses and reporting tools to support decision-makingIdentify opportunities to automate and improve processes enhance controls and reduce operational riskSupport implementation of financial reporting changes and updates to tax accounting policies Ensure documentation of procedures controls and account reconciliations is complete and up to dateParticipate in tax planning and recovery initiatives and contribute to research on complex tax issuesReview tax assessments for accuracy and manage amendments objections or appeals where youll bring:CPA designation (or international equivalent)Completion of CPA In-Depth Tax (Parts I & II) is considered an assetPost-secondary education in accounting finance or business administrationMinimum 3 years of relevant tax experience; experience in life insurance or financial services is an assetStrong knowledge of tax accounting reporting and compliance requirementsAbility to interpret and apply tax legislation and communicate implications clearly to stakeholdersAnalytical mindset with the ability to assess complex issues and provide practical recommendationsExperience supporting audits and working with regulatory bodiesStrong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and timelinessAbility to build relationships and collaborate effectively across business unitsContinuous improvement mindset with interest in leveraging automation and data analyticsWhats in it for you:Career Growth: Regular learning sessions and developmentopportunitiesTotal Rewards: Incentive pay annual salary reviews employer-paid benefits and pensionmatchingTime Away: Competitive vacation plus one paid volunteer day each yearFlexibility: Healthy work-life balance with employee wellness always top of mind complemented by a dress for your day approachAt Equitable were committed to fair pay and an inclusive accessible hiring experience.
