Join the County of Elgin as a Senior Financial Analyst!Position Title: Senior Financial AnalystType:Full-time Non-union 18-month ContractCompensation: $46.56 - $54.48 per hour ($84 739.20 - $99 153. 60 per Year)Hours: 35 hours per weekVacancy: Existing vacancy - mat leaveAbout the Role:Reporting to the Director of Financial Services / Treasurer or designate the Senior Financial Analyst plays an hands on active role in the day-to-day departmental activity of the department. The successful candidate will ensure accurate transactional processing and compliance with the Municipal Act By-Laws and Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS). The Senior Financial Analyst will be expected to demonstrate practical knowledge of municipal finance and brings critical problem-solving skills to the position that provide financial support services to the County of Elgin and safeguard public OF WORK PERFORMED:Assist departments in the development of budgets and the analysis of actual with provincial ministries regarding monthly/quarterly/annual reporting and funding with year-end close (accruals deferrals capital assets audit working papers/follow up questions)Perform cash management processes as it relates to accounts payable accounts receivable and petty include but are not limited to reconciling bank accounts preparing bank deposits monitoring inflow and outflow of transactions and following up on payment GL accounts to ensure integrity and accuracy on a monthly schedule. Prepare and post necessary journal entries to the General Ledger in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Support staff vendors and customers to assist with problem solving and high level assistance to payroll related to analysis for departmental reporting journal entry reconciliation/posting back up for staff inquiries and vacation relief as participate in learning opportunities related to new software upgrades/implementation financial modelling or other projects as assignedIdentify and bring to managers attention any areas where process improvements efficiencies or risk mitigation opportunities may exist for a discussion on possible next financial information is properly preserved and maintained for archival leadership and training for staff as it relates to financial processes and internal systems that support and facilitates proper reporting for audit up within applicable systems/software to ensure alignment to current year budget is and maintain operating procedures for functions within the department as updates are done or :Post secondary degree/diploma in Accounting Business Administration or designation or currently nearing to five years of senior accounting level experience preferably in a municipal setting would be skills in Microsoft Office specifically Excel and Sage of software systems such as: Questica(Euna) and Laserfiche would be considered an knowledge of Ministry of Health Guidelines and Ontario Health Reporting Standards (OHRS) Experience with Dayforce Staff Schedule Care and payroll standards would be considered an assetStrong written and oral communication oriented and self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently to meet interpersonal now!
