Job Summary
Senior Credit Advisor
Be at the forefront of complex business decisions in the mining industry helping to identify opportunities manage risk exposure and support sustainable value creation across global operations. Based in Montreal this hybrid role offers a balance of in-office and remote work with a minimum of 3 days per week on site.
What is in it for you:
Salaried: $60-70 per hour.
Incorporated Business Rate: $75-85 per hour.
3-month contract with the potential for permanent employment.
Full-time position: 40 hours per week.
Hybrid work with 3 days per week in the office.
Responsibilities:
Analyse qualitative and quantitative data on new and existing counterparties to determine and recommend credit ratings credit limits payment terms and credit solutions.
Manage counterparties within an assigned portfolio including credit reviews queries regarding potential deals and exposures limit availability checks onboarding requests credit block releases and credit alerts.
Manage counterparty relationships together with BU/PG including onboarding non-payment or default situations and other credit-related events.
Assess complex transactions in conjunction with BU/PG and other functions to develop appropriate credit solutions and establish suitable credit rights and contractual terms.
Liaise with credit insurers brokers risk teams and functions such as Legal and Finance to implement credit management measures including security arrangements payment terms credit rights or triggers.
Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to formulate solutions that enhance sales value through term extensions while ensuring risks are identified and mitigated.
Support advise and partner with the Commercial organization on strategic and operational initiatives to deliver cash targets margin enhancement and process efficiencies.
Monitor the assigned portfolio daily using available tools resources and market intelligence and promptly identify adverse credit developments and potential credit events.
Maintain close communication with BU/PG to develop a thorough understanding of the portfolio including industry and counterparty risk factors.
Monitor adherence to credit limits and report all credit control breaches.
Prepare review and validate credit management reports including sales forecasts credit exposure accounts receivable aging and excess monitoring reports.
Ensure credit processes remain aligned with relevant governance frameworks documentation requirements and reporting processes.
Prepare presentations for credit committees and develop analytical tools and insights for the business.
Utilize credit risk and accounting systems for credit risk management and administration including SAP and S&P Capital IQ.
Lead initiatives focused on standardization automation and continuous improvement of credit-related processes.
Initiate and participate in credit risk system enhancements and reporting initiatives including dashboards and excess reporting.
Participate in or lead cross-functional BU and PG projects as required.
What you will need to succeed:
Required qualifications
Degree in Business Studies Finance or Accounting.
5 years of relevant experience as a Credit Risk Analyst or Financial Analyst in a commodity trading or metals and mining environment.
Working knowledge of trade finance solutions trade credit insurance and parental or corporate guarantees.
Strong portfolio management analytical and financial analysis skills.
Ability to communicate credit decisions and recommendations effectively both verbally and in writing in English and French.
Advanced PC skills including Advanced Microsoft Excel.
Experience working with SAP and S&P Capital IQ.
Required soft skills
Strong stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred qualifications
MBA CPA CFA or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
Python programming skills.
Power BI skills.
