Reporting to firm leadership the Senior Bookkeeper oversees the day-to-day accounting function and supports the financial management of a multi-office legal practice. This position is responsible for financial reporting billing collections trust accounting oversight payroll administration budgeting and regulatory compliance.
The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution and is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with a team while maintaining strong accounting controls and operational excellence.
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations including transaction processing account reconciliation and financial record maintenance.
- Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial reports including income statements balance sheets and cash flow statements.
- Review general and trust bank reconciliations for accuracy and compliance.
- Support billing and collections activities while providing guidance to legal support staff.
- Prepare and oversee payroll processing and year-end payroll requirements.
- Administer employee benefits programs and retirement plan remittances.
- Prepare and oversee GST WCB EHT T4s corporate tax installments and other statutory filings.
- Complete quarterly and annual regulatory filings as required.
- Monitor accounts receivable review aging reports and provide recommendations regarding outstanding balances.
- Assist with budgeting forecasting and variance analysis.
- Manage year-end working papers and liaise with external accountants.
- Oversee accounting for multiple related entities.
- Supervise and mentor accounting team members.
- Strengthen internal controls and improve financial processes and consistency across offices.
- Serve as a trusted internal resource for financial and accounting matters.
- Post-secondary education in Accounting Finance or a related discipline.
- Several years of progressive accounting experience including full-cycle accounting responsibilities.
- Experience preparing financial statements managing cash flow and overseeing day-to-day accounting operations.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable receivable reconciliations payroll statutory remittances and financial reporting.
- Experience working within a professional services environment is preferred.
- Experience with trust accounting and regulatory compliance requirements is considered an asset.
- Experience working in a legal environment is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting multiple entities or business units is preferred.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational skills attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.

Compensation: $70000 - $90000 annually depending on experience and qualifications.
