Guidewires development team is looking for a smart proactive and results-oriented Software Engineer II to build elegant solutions for the property & casualty insurance industrys complex business domain and make our industry-leading products even better. The team is looking for an enthusiastic engineer who is passionate about building high-quality software with a great team and improving the customer experience for millions of people who use our products every day.The team you will be joining sits within Guidewires Product Development and Operations (PDO) organization which builds and runs the cloud platform that powers the worlds most trusted P&C insurance software. The team focuses on SBT Content and insurance content transformation for U.S. Commercial insurers which requires large-scale data volumes heavy server load and complex business logic. You will work in a highly collaborative and agile environment with a team of Software Engineers and you will contribute to the design and implementation of high-performance software solutions that align with our product goals and technical best practices.
As part of PDOs shift toward AI-driven development you will use AI-native coding approaches and AI-assisted tools (such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot) to build refactor and extend our services quickly and safely while maintaining high engineering standards tests and observability. Your work will support PDOs mission to embed GenAI across our products improve operational excellence and deliver secure reliable and scalable cloud services at scale.

Job Description

Minimum 2 years of Software Development experience preferably in SaaS or cloud solutions
Proficiency in Core Java and good working knowledge of the Spring framework
Experience with JavaScript TypeScript or Python
Experience building microservices on cloud service platforms (e.g. AWS/GCP/Azure) AWS preferred
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes)
Experience designing REST or gRPC based APIs
Ability to use AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. Claude Code GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development while exercising strong judgment around code quality testing and security
Good understanding of Object-Oriented Design principles
Understanding of relational database persistence (e.g. MySQL Oracle); familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB CouchDB) is a plus
Great understanding of CI/CD and DevOps principles; experience with related tools such as TeamCity Git-based workflows or Kubernetes is a definite plus
Experience with LLMs LangChain and/or AI patterns such as RAG or ReAct is a plus
Exposure to AI/ML development patterns such as prompt engineering or integrating AI services into production systems is a plus
BS/MS degree (Computer Science or related field)

The Canadian CAD base salary range for this full-time position is $86000 - $108000. Your base pay will depend on your experience skills education training and location among other factors. All full-time positions or part-time roles working 30 hours or more a week at Guidewire are eligible for benefits that support their health and well-being including health dental and vision insurance paid time off and a company sponsored retirement addition some roles may be eligible for the annual company bonus plan commissions and/or long term incentive awards which are contingent on a variety of factors including but not limited to company and employee performance.About Guidewire
