Must-haves:

  1. 10 years of experience leading and conducting business and system analysis to assess clients business problems/opportunities and document the business/system requirements in such a way that I&IT solutions can be designed.
  2. Proven experience in both agile and waterfall project management methodologies; demonstrated experience with writing user stories and using tools such as DevOps.
  3. Proven experience in conducting business and system analysis in respect to building data marts/data warehouses/data lakehouse or Business Intelligence/Data Analytics and Reporting solutions.
  4. Proven experience in conducting business and system analysis for a Dynamics 365 CE and/or F&O solution.
  5. Familiarity with BI/reporting tools such as PowerBI

Nice-to-have:

  1. Basic knowledge of SQL language; ability to execute SQL queries.
  2. Understanding of concepts around ETL data quality data cleaning data issues handling.

Scope:

  • The Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee (OPGT) requires a Senior Business Analysts to assist with report development for the data warehouse/lakehouse and associated data migration activities.

Assignment Deliverables

As a member of the PGTIMS Support and Data Migration team you will be responsible to lead and conduct business and systems analyst related to data migration activities.

A high-level list of deliverables follows:

  • Lead and conduct business and system analysis in respect to building the golden layer of the data lakehouse and modernized reports in PowerBI.
  • Lead the effort into defining the reporting MVP; document legacy reports in scope of MVP; conduct gap analysis and provide recommendations.
  • Document report requirements in user stories in DevOps. Conduct analysis at varying levels of detail appropriate to the project and phases of project aligning with OPS standards.
  • Liaise between Business Areas and the data migration and reporting team to clarify business requirements and translate them into system and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct business modeling; use case modeling; conceptual and logical data modeling; process and data flow modeling; use case surveys; business rules definition and non-functional requirements definitions for assigned projects including report requirements screen specifications business rules data migration requirements etc.
  • Produce/update documentation which will allow future support of the implemented solutions.
  • Assist with identifying and resolving data quality issues defining test cases performing data reconciliation and addressing any issues or discrepancies that arise during the testing phase; developing KPIs to report on the progress completeness and quality of the reporting and data migration effort.
  • Ongoing Support: provide post-migration support analyze and address data-related issues or questions; help with optimizing data management processes in the new environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You will also be required to:

  • Complete work and achieve milestones within the assigned deadlines.
  • Notify the Cluster/Ministry project Manager in writing of any issues or other material concerns related to the Assignment Deliverables as soon as he/she becomes aware of them
  • Submit Deliverables for the Cluster/Ministry approval as they are completed.
  • Comply with the Ontario Government and the Cluster/Ministry security procedures and practices
  • Comply with the Ontario Government and the Cluster/Ministry architecture/technology standards and best practices
  • Comply with the Ontario Government and the Cluster/Ministry Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Guidelines
  • Provide knowledge and skill transfer to a designated Cluster/Ministry staff
  • Comply with the Ontario Government I&IT Directive Operational Policy on the I&IT Project Gateway Process and other applicable Guidelines Standards and Procedures.

  • Proven experience in both agile and waterfall project management methodologies.

  • Demonstrated experience working as a business analyst in large/complex data migration projects.
  • Familiarity with BI/reporting tools such as PowerBI
  • Basic knowledge of SQL language; ability to execute SQL queries.
  • Understanding of concepts around ETL data quality data cleaning data issues handling.
  • experience in conducting business and system analysis for a Dynamics 365 CE and/or F&O solution.
  • Experience creating use cases test plans test cases test scripts ideally around reporting and/or data migration.
  • Experience with defect management processes defect identification logging tracking and resolution.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard quality assurance practices such as ISO standards CMMI or Agile methodologies
  • Experience consulting and coordinating between Business Areas and the IT Development and Testing teams to clarify business requirements and translating them into system requirements.
  • Critical thinking analytical and problem-solving skills; proven gap analysis experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to engage with stakeholders and build strong working relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience with writing user stories and using tools such as DevOps.
