Residence Worker (2026-46)

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE and REQUIREMENTS:

• Community and School Support Worker Resident Care Aid or Home Support Worker Certificate
• • One (1) year of recent related experience working with seniors with developmental diverse abilities
  • Or a combination of education training and experience.
• Valid BC Class 4 Unrestricted Drivers License
• • BC Class 5 DL is accepted with the condition of ability to obtain a Valid Class 4 Unrestricted drivers license within the probationary period. (Reimbursement available for the costs)
• A safe driving record
• Access to a reliable vehicle
• TB Testing showing free from tuberculosis
• Physical abilities to provide individuals with personal care and recreational activities indoors and outdoors. Including supporting individuals in wheelchairs and walkers carrying lifting transferring pushing pulling bending assisting clients safely in and out of bed and bath and using lifts and other health equipment appropriately.
• The following training is required and provided to the successful candidate free of charge. Existing certification is an asset: Emergency First Aid with CPR Mandt-RCT Safe Food Handling Medication Management CLBC Privacy Abuse and Neglect Awareness training Anti-Bullying and Harassment.
• A background check through the BC Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General is required.
• This job requires union membership with a 1.85% union dues deducted from pay.

ABOUT THE JOB:

The Residence Worker assists adults with diverse abilities in a supported home environment. They promote quality of life for all residents by encouraging independence maximizing their well-being and enhancing social participation. This position requires a high level of personal and palliative care. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Collaborates with individuals caregivers and other community professionals to assess residents needs and develop and attain individual goals. Adjusts goals and strategies as required.
• Assesses personal care and health needs and performs care as required.
• Provides activities that support residents independence and encourage meaningful community connections.
• Provides healthy meals and snacks ensuring the specific dietary needs of the individuals are met.
• Manages general household chores including meal plan and prep shopping laundry yard maintenance and repairs.
• Administer medication following the agency procedures.
• Supports residents in advocating for themselves and liaises with social workers community resources family etc.
• Teaches relationship-building skills while fostering self-esteem self-advocacy and healthy lifestyle choices.
• Supports residents in managing their personal finances as needed.
• Schedule appointments and transports clients using the program accessibility van. (medical optical and dental appointments family visits recreational outings etc.)
• Recognize and responds to potential risks and emergency situations to minimize harm to clients staff and/or the public. Takes proactive measures to prevent potential escalations.
• Manages the residential budget including clear and accurate documentation of petty cash and spending.
• Maintains daily client information and activity logs.
• Ensures required documentation is complete timely and accurate.

• Provide clear and accurate written documentation
• Run and maintain a home including shopping cleaning yard work cooking budgeting and meal planning.
• Cook healthy nutritional meals

STATUS: Full-Time

COMPENSATION: $25.95 - $29.76 per hour (Grid 10 as per collective agreement)

HOURS of WORK: 37.4 hours per week on average

SCHEDULE: 4 days on 2 days off rotation - 8 am-4 pm
