ROLE PURPOSE
Are you excited to join an expert team to ensure Canadian regulatory compliance for fast-growing market leading US supplement businesses If so Regulatory Affairs (RA) Assistant Manager - Canada part of Unilever Wellbeing Collective (natural health products) could be an ideal role for you!

As RA Assistant Manager Canada you will provide regulatory expertise and assessments for the Canadian Natural Health Products business. This role is focused on compliance to Health Canadas Natural Health Product (NHP) Regulations with end-to-end oversight of the portfolio from product development/formulation product license applications product launches to post license changes. You will partner closely with all Unilever stakeholders such as R&D Quality Legal Marketing Brand Management Suppliers Regulatory Authorities and Trade Associations. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in foods/Supplemented foods.

WHAT YOULL DO (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)
Liaise between business partners and Health Canada to ensure all stakeholders have accurate information and understanding of regulatory requirements for natural health product registrations (product license applications PLAs).

Work proactively with external partners and support cross-functional delivery teams for complex regulatory projects classification assessment market entry assessment regulatory query response regulatory compliance projects etc.

Perform product submission classifications for NHPs (Compendial/Class 1 Class 2 or Class 3 submissions) and assess ingredients for acceptability as appropriate to the product monograph or Class 3 (non-monograph) submission evidence.

Maintain products through the entire product life cycle from product development/formulation to post license changes as applicable to the product classification while keeping business partners informed of potential impact to product supply/availability.

Work closely with Global and Regional R&D to assure all technical and Canadian specific requirements are met for natural health products.

Review / Substantiate marketing and scientific claims as appropriate to the product classification and work with R&D for evidence requirements for claims. Defend product and claims with relevant Health Canada authorities.

Work with in-house and external legal counsel to resolve labelling conflicts and/or other issues when ambiguity exists in the NHP regulations by applying risk management principles to ensure consumer and brand protection.

Monitor interpret and validate current and changing regulatory landscape and communicate potential impact these activities may have on the innovation/ product maintenance.

Compile and maintain regulatory documentation as required; ensures that appropriate up-to-date records are maintained for compliance including maintaining repositories of current labelling and ensuring proper version control and document integrity.

Work with Quality & R&D to establish release specifications that are in line with submitted natural health product license and work with importation & QA team for Site licence and Finish product testing requirements to help establish testing as per the Quality of NHP Guidance.

WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED

5 years of direct Canadian natural health product regulatory experience.

Bachelors or Masters degree in regulatory affairs science medical sciences pharmacology etc.; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required.

In-depth Knowledge and experience on Health Canada quality & regulatory and applicable laws and regulations including NHP GMP standards.

Experience in Health Canada NHP regulatory submissions Foods/Supplemented foods and product licensing systems.

Technical writing experience in a compliance environment such as microbiology food science chemistry or biochemistry.

Ability to review/ complete efficacy and/or safety assessments and dossiers as required for the product classification type for NHPs.

Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization as well as internal and external clients.

Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis interpretation & reasoning).

Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.

Self-motivated with critical attention to detail deadlines and reporting.

Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $84900-$127300. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets experience and training licensure and certifications qualifications and education and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
