POSITION SUMMARY
In keeping with CHEOs mission statement the Float Team nurse is responsible for assessing planning implementing and evaluating nursing care for individual patients/families. Working for the Float Team is an opportunity to develop a broad range of pediatric skills. Float Team members may be assigned to cover just in time needs or longer-term vacancies throughout the hospital. The Float Team nurse practices according to the standards of practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario and in compliance with CHEOs policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of a college program in Practical Nursing (Preferred)
Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) (Essential)
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification (Essential)
Medication administration course (Essential)
Minimum two (2) years of Pediatric experience (Preferred)
Demonstrates knowledge of principles of safe medication administration and reconciliation and the ability to practice this in a clinical setting (Essential)
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills (Essential)
Demonstrates the ability to participate as an active member of the health-care team (Essential)
Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in an oral and a written format with patients public colleagues and other health disciplines (Essential)
Demonstrates an understanding and a willingness to participate in self-evaluation (Essential)
Demonstrates the ability to participate in patient teaching (Essential)
Demonstrates a commitment to continuous Quality Improvement (Essential)
Demonstrates an understanding of aseptic technique and an ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting (Essential)

Effective March 29 2021 CHEOwillconducta morecomprehensivepre-screening andevaluationprocess. This processmayincludemorevariedandmultidimensionaltestingsuchas awrittentestpracticalexam orotherassessment. All candidateswhomeetthe essential andpreferredqualificationsmaybetested.
Bilingualism(French/English)willbevalidatedby alanguageproficiencyassessmentconductedby athirdparty provider. Candidateswillbetomeetthe minimumlinguisticprofilepriorto the date ofhire.
